iphone help - re new purchase

Hi there, my son want an iphone for his birthday - he will be 13 and i dont want to join up to a expensive lenghty contract, however dont want to pay the cost of payg, can i buy one from cpw, and then just not go throught the credit check process and get it unlocked? will o2 or apple whoever contact me about not having taken out the contract? all seems a bit to easy and cheap to do wthout any reprocussions?!?!?!? your help and advice would be really appreciated.

this must be a wind up, or if not.....if you get one from CPW then it will be either PAYG or contract. If its contract, then you go through the checks there and then prior to actually getting the phone. If you get accepted then you sign up for the whole contract duration. If not, buy iphone on PAYG and be done with it. You can buy it as PAYG and get it unlocked to accept other sim cares but you lose some of the functions

It's not like the 2g. You take the contract out in the store with the 3G, not over iTunes.

Just pay the £350, I did, it's worth it.

I think it's a bit too expensive for a 13 year old, why don't you just buy them a cheap phone and an iPod touch?

    Iphone @ 13!!

i wasnt aware that you had to take the contract out instore with the 3g, assumed it was the same as the older version, i went onto cpw website but it didnt say anything about doing a contract with them?

Believe me, if they did it like the 2G no one would buy the £350 version.

They've done it like this to stop people doing what you're thinking of doing.

Go through the whole process with CPW website and you'll sign up to a contract.
