iPhone text message / iMessage thread question

Found 11th Jan
Hi

I have a really long text message thread of thousands of messages.

I want to go through them - is there a quick way of going to the first message without scrolling up or tapping the time for ages or even a way to export the thread to a pc to go through (without using any other program)?

I'm on an iPhone 6s with newest IOS.

Thanks

Can't you just tap where the time is on your status bar, top middle? That should do it.

That only takes you to where it's currently loaded, you'd have to repeatedly press it until you get to the top. If you're feeling a bit technical you can search google for an iOS backup extractor and you'll be able to see it on a PC/Mac

Fair enough

Using software you can export the message on your PC and then using tools on your PC you would be able to easily achieve what you're looking to do.

I am rather unsure why you are asking if it is possible to do this without a program since it is little hassle to download some free software.

I'm just not trusting of using the software while connected to my phone incase of viruses etc.
Have you used one or know of a trusted one?
Thanks

Have you used an extractor that you could recommend? Thanks

Whilst I implore you to be vigilant, I wouldn't not let such things worry you from downloading software - perhaps check the reviews first?

Whilst I cannot recommend a single piece of software, purely because I cannot remember the name, however I have successfully achieved what I stated above; imported my messages from an IOS device into an Excel file. Thus then allowing you to more easily manage the messages.

That's personally how I would solve the issue. If anything my privacy would be more of a concern than inadvertently obtaining a 'virus'.

Finally, you make it sound like you're worried about getting a virus on your phone rather than your PC? That is almost impossible with the device being IOS.

The 'for dummies' route is it put phone on airplane setting ( so no one rings or texts you), scroll back to the beginning, take screenshots. The 'dummies' referred to mean myself, not you

Thanks for that.
Yeah, when I say virus I mean anything getting into it interfering with my phone, as I use it for banking etc. I'm just a bit cautious with stuff like that!

Yeah, that would take all day. I sat scrolling for 1/2hr the other night and got nowhere near the start!
