Argos locks to first sim I believe. You would be better buying from giffgaff as the phones are unlocked and cheaper.

They come unlocked now. At least a friend picked up an iPhone 7 recently from Argos and that certainly didn't lock to the first SIM.

Sim free = does not lock to first SIM. From Q&A for "Sim Free Apple iPhone SE 64GB Mobile Phone - Rose Gold" at http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5286908:
"QUESTION: Hi, I have read through the previous questions and there seems to be conflicting information regarding the question whether or not the phone locks to the network of the first SIM inserted. So I would like to ask again DOES it or DOESN'T it lock?
ANSWER: I'm sorry for the confusion. To clarify, this Sim Free Apple iPhone SE 64GB Mobile Phone won't lock to the first SIM put into it. It'll remain unlocked, forever.
I hope this helps!"

I don't think any lock to the first SIM now, unless provided by a shop that also sells contracts. Neither GiffGaff, Argos, John Lewis or KRCS lock to the first SIM - the only ones I know still do are Carphone Warehouse and ones bought from network providers - which lock to any SIM on first use.

They are sim free so no they will not lock, I have bought an iPhone 7 plus and Samsung s7 no probs with swapping sims as long as it says sim free iPhone se

Unless there is a big price difference, but from John Lewis anyway, then you get the 2 year warranty.

Thanks everyone, so I assume if I was to purchase from Very they would also be unlocked? There currently the same price and 20% off for new customer seems a good deal.

The key phrase to look for from any supplier is "SIM-free".

Yes they will work with any network as well, I have bought an Iphone 6 Plus, Samsung Note 3 x2 which were all unlocked and worked with multiple sims including Canadian network Rogers.
