WPA and yes to mac filtering, but i dont know how to open the routers settings!! its the new thomson speedtouch via AOL.

If you have mac filtering enabled, you will need to add the mac address from the Ipod Touch into your settings.

Normally to open a router settings you simply go the router's address, if you have a Windows PC click start->run (or hold windows button and press R) then type cmd and hit enter. In the black box that appears type ipconfig /all and look for the gateway, DNS and DHCP server addresses which should all be the same and normally something like 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1 or 10.0.0.1. Whichever address you find, enter http:// such as 192.168.1.1 if you find your router is that address.

I'm a bit puzzled though, if you can't access your router how do you know mac filtering is on and how are existing machines using it?

well when i installed the AOL CD on each computer in my house it said "configuring router" so i suppose that it was enabling mac filtering. also when i try the comand prompt a black box appears with text for litraly a second then disappears

Are you typing cmd first? If you type ipconfig in the run box then it will flash up and then disappear again.

Ok ive got up to this point, now what?

You need to follow the steps I posted above to find the router's ip address and access it through a web browser.

    John

I had the same problem it was working fine then would not work sent back to apple and got a new iPod all fine now

Not that this helps, but mine worked fine with WEP. Never tried it with TKIP. Have you tried AES? I generally get better results with AES.
