Ipod Trouble, Please Help

OK, My we nephew bought an 80G Ipod about 10 -11 months ago, and it has just died. He has now just gone away to Afganistan, and would dearly love to play all his (Rubbish) music and vids on his lovely nearly new Ipod. Could anyone advise on how I get this Ipod either booted back up, or returned to Ipod UK. Do they always break, has anyone any experience in dealing with Ipod UK Customer service people?

I currently have no proof of purchase, and no instructions etc.

Will Ipod UK replace this? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
