    ipod/itunes help Pleeeeeeease x

    Hi peeps
My Sis has got a new ipod and has transfered all her music (CD's) onto Windows Media Player but we can't seem to work out how to get them onto her ipod. She's been told that she has to go on to itunes but when we plug the ipod in nothing much happens. Wondered if any of you lovely people would help two struggling damsels (yh right) in distress!!

REP WILL BE LEFT x x

    Hi Hannah
Have you imported the music into iTunes?

hi,you need the itunes software you should have a disc other than that just go there an download the software direct...m:)

Have you imported the music into itunes?
If you've ripped the CD's in WMP it's likely they're in a wma format; which itunes and ipods cannot read.
They need to be in mp3 or aac format for it to be transferred to the ipod.

I may be stating the obvious but has she downloaded Itunes yet from the apple website? If she has then it may just be a case of palying around with the preferences on media payer / itunes to make sure Itunes opens on connection!

    enjoy

Sorry, just re read this.........is she meant to download from Apple website or itunes website?

get itunes then plug in the ipod and follow instructions. then when you can rip cd's or you can transfer the files or folders of the music that you have on your pc to itunes and it will automatically transfer it from wma to mp3.

    Tell me about it!!

Make sure it's set to manually manage music rather than library sync or it will try to copy over the contents of the library every time wiping what is on the ipod.

    Learned that the hard way.

It's a new ipod so I'll assume that there's no music on it already.
If so, leaving it on library sync will probably be the better option for you (hannah), less hassle.
Unless you intend on syncing your ipod with multiple computers/itunes libraries.

Yh is a new one so no music on it yet but thanks for the advice for future Ungreat
Thanks Magic will give it ago soon. Got another prob at mo, can't get sisters lappy to connect to internet but as soon as it's sorted gonna give this a try:thumbsup:

    Thanks again guys x

    1. Yes you'll need to download iTunes.
    2. Yes you can import songs from WMP (But not the other way I think!)
    3. All CD's have to put into iTunes before they can be put on an iPod
    4. Syncing with your library is the best setting for beginners, but I work with it turned off now I know my way round a bit better! Put loads of CDs on iTunes, and then connect the iPod and do it in one fell swoop, don't just add one album then connect, as has been said before syncing clears your iPod then puts everything on it again... But worry about this later. Get some music on yer POD!!
    5. iTunes works best when your computer is connected to the internet, then it will automatically find track names and album artwork if it exists.

Have fun, iPods & iTunes are great fun
