Neither car has road tax as its not transferable

biggest difference I can see is the 3dr & 5dr. that would be my concern if it was to be a family car

Sorry didnt make the road tax clear it would never be paid on the second one due to the emissions being low. The first one would cost me £20 a year.

Not a family car just for me. The boot is really small so guess having 5 door makes it easier to access the backseats for overflow

Pretty sure that rule is changing very soon.

If not a family car I would buy the newer one.

I suppose it depends on how long you expect to keep the car.

Road tax for the first one isn't going to leave you too out of pocket.

Unless you do a lot of shopping or otherwise need a lot of boot space, 3 does shouldn't be too much of a problem.

If it is a private seller, you can always try and haggle the second car down a bit in price.

Looks to be cars registered after April 1st 2017 so this would not affect any cars manufactured before this date?

THis really sucks though as it looks as though there is a £0 and £140 that is it

I would like to keep the car as long as possible , franchise so they wont budge on price 9/10

Have you looked around for similar models to see if the price is around the same?

Don't just haggle on price try other things, free service, new alloy's,Boot liner, new mats, set of tyres, RAC/AA breakdown cover etc etc.
Sorry just to add, yes worth the extra money, just take a look at the difference in the servicing costs on the older car compared to the younger car, don't forget for a lot of things the mileage doesn't matter but the age of the parts and when they should be changed according to the cars service schedules. Ring another franchise dealer as an example and ask how much for servicing for a 2010 car this year and next etc then ring another asking the same for a 2012 model.

Simple answer is yes, the extra 2 years younger us worth paying £300 for. Just make sure youre happy with a 3 door car!

Both over priced. For £3600 I'd be wanting a mint 13 plate in Black, white or dark blue. Or a 63 plate in Red.
For a £4k looking at a 14 plate.

If you only want to keep it a short while like 1 year and want the best returns then spend a little more on a 14 plate Aygo. Then when you come to sell it it will have 12-18m warranty left. Plus be easier to make a private sale.

Here.

But these are just ball park figures. You need to look on autotrader and piston heads, gumtree (dealers only) and car supermarkets.
Pop into the local Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota dealers. Leave your details of what you are after and leave it with them. Leave your details with car supermarkets too. Find any specialists if near by and give details.

But overall make people aware you are looking for a car.

Give them colours, prices and spec (they are all ok minus VT, Access and Fire). As long as its got Aircon. The alcantara and leather seats are a great addition. Black plastic looks better but looks mucky/dusty quicker over grey.

No major issues to look for apart from water leaks on back door (5dr) and boot. Look for marks on headlining and carpet in back of car and in boot and spare wheel well.
