Is all fair in love and war?!

Is all fair in love and war?! Is there an unwritten rule in dating your mates exes?

Long story short, One of my friends has started dating another friends Ex and it's all kicked off with me in the middle! I understand both their postions and are not siding with either but is there a rule about such things?!! Help!

Never mow another guys lawn.. or

you never rub another man's rhubarb, as the joker would say.,

Imo it is unwise to do this, there are usually always problems, there are plenty of fish in the sea, it's likely to jeopardise a friendship, i guess each case is different though

It's kinda awkward. Annoying thing is, what's the most obvious mutual interest? Exactly. Ears start burning, resentment and fallings-out ensue. I don't know if it officially is, but it should be against Man Rules.

It's worse when its 2 girls fighting over one boy...

I guess it depends how much they value the friendship!

Here's the clue - it's the other friend's Ex
That means the other friend has given up any interest or "rights" in the Ex.
The Ex is not a piece of property and is allowed to make up their own mind about whom they date.
If your first friend doesn't like that, they shouldn't have given up their Ex.
Your position is quite clear, don't take sides, don't get drawn into snidey backbiting or points scoring and treat each person as an individual to be respected and treated with integrity.

Yeps but it's complicated...He was her ex but were slowly getting back together and the other girl knew full well about it...But still went in for the kill...

Women

If your friend and new partner want to be with each other than thats what is important, don't be in the middle just tell your other friend to get a grip, it is not your problem!

She still has the choice, not him, and she really shouldn't be thought of as prey.

My fella is perfect and so am I :-)

Always ask before you go up for seconds.

Agree with the cannyscot.

I have been out with the ex girlfriends of guys I knew and I have known guys to go out with ex girlfriends of mine,

What it all boils down to are feelings of inadequacy. Everyone has there personal demons but I am cool with my own. In fact I even had a situation where a work colleague and I switched girlfriends as we all (okay me and the other guy!) just figured out that we were more compatible with the other person.

In truth that was one of my best relationships.

just tell your mates john and wayne not to put you in the middle, let them sort it out themselves

Aaah i see now i thought it was two men, i woman, but its 1 man with two women after him ( ego boost for him) imo, and probably loving it !! and if he's a 'scumbag' like you said he will probably end up with neither !, so i would keep out of it and let them got in with it
