yeah, thats what i'd think.

Don't mean to scare you, but not only is it illegal, they don't give tickets for this offence; it's a double life sentence with no opportunity for parole.

i though solid white lines mean clear way but there should be a sign to indicate such. No sign No clearway thus no offence.

HW Code sec 215: You MUST NOT stop or park on

the carriageway or the hard shoulder of a motorway except in an emergency (see Rule 244)
a pedestrian crossing, including the area marked by the zig-zag lines (see Rule 167)
a Clearway (see Traffic signs section)
a Bus Stop Clearway within its hours of operation
taxi bays as indicated by upright signs and markings
-an Urban Clearway within its hours of operation, except to pick up or set down passengers (see Traffic signs section)
a road marked with double white lines, except to pick up or set down passengers a bus, tram or cycle lane during its period of operation
a cycle track
red lines, in the case of specially designated 'red routes', unless otherwise indicated by signs.

I saw one of these yesterday actually.

Just thought it was a security car [for a company]

you could say you had to move out of the way of an emergency vehicle that was going past and next thing you know this cctv car comes past just as you were about to pull off again....... :whistling:

Yes, there was a lady in the news who was unsucessfully arguing this case, and it actually seemed to be true in her case...

I hope you don't. But the laws the law.

I got snapped(hand held camera) the other month by a traffic warden outside my kids school as i had to reverse out of a cul de sac (which was blocked at the turning point by a car) and i got stuck on the line because of traffic. Spent weeks panicing i would get a ticket, never did.
Anyway few weeks later i was parked up(legally) and the traffic warden came to talk to me, he'd watch me every time he was there trying to find a parking space so he told me that if i got my kids to stand at the side of the road i can actually stop on the white line to pick them up or drop them off.
