    Other people in the house are using programs like spotify, youtube and facebook at the same time making a game of fifa near impossible. Is it possible to limit the speed of certain devices on the network and how !

    QOS = Quality of Service

    Every decent router should have a QOS page, it's simple enough to setup.

    I get this, seems I can only do it for the whole LAN rather than just a specific computer. Thanks for the help, any pointers from here ?

    There is a software program you can use but you need to install it on … There is a software program you can use but you need to install it on every PCI'll try and find it later if you want to try it

    Sounds good, will have to sneak in to get this laptop though, is it a stealthy background program as it'll need to be, to work.

    I've got the same router: DIR-615 and the QoS function is useless I actually found ping to go up when enabled!

    Not a great router, my older netgear G router was better and that was sh*t as well. Both free from VM so can't complain too much. Lag seems to have gone down a bit since. I am right in saying it limits every device on the network to whatever you set it to ?

    I couldnt agree more, I get a better ping over a 8mb ADSL2+ connection over wireless then I do over my 20mb VM Cable connection over LAN!

    What I found it done was try and manage the upload per connection to router, but video streams and whatnot were still getting priority as well thus was useless.

    the qos on those dir's need to be set up to limit individual protocols

    you cant though, there is no customisation, which is why i leave mine off as its more of a hinderance.

    The firmware on the one in screen shot is very old as well. Might be better to upgrade it but be careful can render it useless if not done right.

    +1 my sky router on a 5mb connection pings at 20ms average which is very good. The vm one on a 10mb so called fastest most reliable fibre optic broadband at 45+ ! jitter tends to fall just short of 40, ok for normal use but is a hinderance in gaming especially games such as FIFA where the slightest delay can change everything. Was thinking of upgrading to 20mb thought it might improve the ping issues sounds just as bad though. I blame the 50mb connections for stealing all the internets, vm are rolling out 100mb soon. Hopefully 50mb will fall in price, otherwise
    the connections will become even worse :-(
