Yes.... If you have a license for it.

Not too sure about drivers, though, depends on the laptop...

When I try to load my Windows XP disc it says setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD :-(

me too, shouldn't be messing with Fdisk if s/he doesn't know how to install XP.

My question is why would you want to?

someone didn't want to pay the extra for the Pro version? :-D

Going back to XP I can understand - but Vista? Win 7 is just Vista done right! Vista will be slower and more annoying than Win 7.

Some new PCs won't have XP drivers available. Could cause install problems.

I'm sorry to hear that! If I had to choose between XP and Vista I'd choose XP anyday!

I've used Vista since it was released, it's what I'm using right now. It's sluggish (compared to XP and 7) and prone to problems. It's still bad, the only thing that has improved is that it is more compatible with drivers now than when it was first released.

Anyone who knows a thing or two about PC's knows Vista is crap. Windows 7 is what Vista was should have been.

The only reason I'm using it now is because I'm still waiting for a good deal on Windows 7.

Might seem basic but it is a very solid OS with the latest SP.

Anyone who knows a thing or two about pc's knows that they get more and more sluggish with the more things you install on to them.

My vista install is very fast. Its faster than my Win7 and WinXP installs. Why?? Because in the year that ive had it ive hardly installed anything onto it.

When I did a fresh install of Windows XP on my old laptop (Pentium 4 2.8GHz 1Gb RAM), it was faster than the fresh install of Vista on my current laptop (1.9GHz Dual Core, 2Gb RAM).

I know MS OS's tend to gradually become slower overtime (unlike Macs and Linux) and I'm sure Windows 7 is nothing new. However, when comparing Vista with XP, I find XP much less resource hungry and far less prone to problems. But I work in IT support and deal with hundreds of machines a day, so what do I know?

So what you are saying is Vista is a good OS if you dont want to use your PC's full potential otherwise it becomes crippled.

You know that you like XP more than Vista from your experience and that is your right

XP : Quick, simple but slightly limited and basic compared to Vista and windows 7
Vista : Way too many bugs when realised, that all improved now but overtime becomes slower and slower and the more you install the slower it becomes. Great if your not installing many programs but for me to sluggish
Windows 7 : How vista should have been - Faster than Vista, not as quick as XP but you would expect that. Icon's instead of writing on the taskbar leads for easy navigation and it comes with some nice features.

Using all 3 over the years on different Pc's and Laptops I would recommend Windows 7, if you have at least 1GB RAM and probably 2.5-3 GHZ processor

No im saying they all become as slow as each other after a while. Even the milliseconds that win7 is faster than vista erode away the more you use it.
