Thanks for replying arachnoid. No haven't tried that. Is it good ?

Well it is normally used on upvc units and conservatorys to clean them up after installation.

Ok thanks I will look for that. Didn't even think about specialist cleaning stuff.

it works v good gets the scuffs and ingrained marks out

Our double glazed windows were looking really mucky almost black in placesand soapy water wouldn't touch it. Got some of that cleaner and now they look brand new, well worth getting some.

if you have a double glazing shop.near you they should have some

I have the special upvc cleaner, rubbish in my opinion.
What works for me is cif and the green scourer and sponge stuff.

cif and green scourer will cause small scratches in the upvc which in turn will create more traps for dirt and grime causing extra cleaning

Thanks everyone.

try a cloth with wd40 on it,after you have cleaned it.it will make it shine and protect for a good while.

And attract dust 5 mins later

You mean Jif?

Yep, the upvc solvent cleaner gets my vote, just make sure there is plenty of ventilation

Upvc solvent cleaner is around £4 a bottle form any plastics centre and there are plenty of them about. I use it for many cleaning jobs including stained plastic baths, Car wheels and other jobs but take caution as it will melt some products. Plastic centres sell cream cleaner as well but cif is just as good. Nothing will restore the yellow faded plastic to white though. If you paint then use the proper paint but don't expect it to look to good but certainly in some cases a large improvement over stained upvc. Solvent cleaner works well but will crack your skin so use gloves.

thinners....... soft cloth and thinners........works a peach

No... I mean cif

Nail varnish remover also works very well!

It will all depend if it is an old PVC door or a UPVC door. The older PVC doors had no protection to ultraviolet rays and they turned the plastic yellow, there is nothing you can do to make them white again. Modern UPVC plastic should not turn yellow, but marks can be cleaned off with professional UPVC cleaner. But be very careful as this stuff is a solvent and actually cleans by melting the top surface of the plastic.

Today I was in Wilkinsons and found some upvc cleaner for £2. I've used it and it worked, the doors look much better. Thanks everyone
