Is it time for Wenger to go?

I'm a lifelong Arsenal supporter and have enjoyed watching Arsenal through good times and bad since the 1970s.

I've never seem the club in such disarray as it is at the moment. I'm not talking about league position or form here, I'm thinking about ambition, desire, club set up, tactics and hope for the future.

Surely Wenger must be able to see that he is now taking the club further from where it needs to be and recognises that he cannot continue?

Your thought?

See that ludicrous display last night? What was Wenger thinking, sending Walcott on that early?

As a neutral, I will say this: Be careful what you wish for.

Look at your friends up in Manchester for an example of what happens when a long standing manager leaves, even with a clear plan for the next step.

Wenger may need to go, but sacking him now will leave your club in more disarray, not less. A clear, long term plan needs to be formed and for every call to 6-0-6 etc asking for Wenger to be sacked I have never heard a fan state just what alternative would actually see Arsenal move forward.

Let Wenger stay until the end of the season, and if I was a member of the Supporters Trust, I'd be lobbying the board to find a viable long term successor with a vision for taking the club forward.

Oh, and you guys were legitimately awful last night. I'm sure I've seen better defensive displays from my club (Swindon Town), then I saw by your lot!

To me no, its time for rethink at the club.

When I go to work I have set objectives set out for me to aim for and achieve, when I don't do that my job is at risk, year on year Arsenal have performed similarly and rewarded him with new contracts, a clear indication, that 4th is the target and that Champions league football is the aim.

Now as fans we cannot understand any club, let alone Arsenal not actively seeking to win things, but I firmly believe the club is not of the mentality that they can compete with City, Chelsea and United in spending... yet they year on year finish usually at least above one of those.

Now for years the club gave the excuse of the new stadium but now that excuse has long gone, now Wenger may still be at the time he needs to go, but I think again the owners and decision makers are getting away with it here - focus should be on them - why has investment noot been higher in players, why have they constantly approved of the league positions and European failures.

Where is the masses of money generated by the huge ticket prices and increased TV revenues going?

If a new manager comes in unless huge money is available to buy players how will this squad get to the next level.

Don't get me wrong they have a cracking squad but its clear tactics isn't the only issue here.

Thier two most technically gifted players are seemingly unsettled, their defence seems to be built around one rock (9 of the ten goals over two legs were scored when he wasn't on...)

Wenger out... that's only a small part of the issue.

Board and wenger yes.
Shame sanchez is being the one everyone seems to be jumping on.
Like how he's (wenger) got so much control he makes his mind up if he stays or goes, but there £8 million reasons he won't.

The thing about Arsenal is, they always try and walk it in!

There are about 288 other teams in the English Leagues who would like to have as many top 4 finishes as Arsenal and Wenger.

The idea that someone else will turn up and suddenly turn up the gas and get them to the top is fantasy. West Ham and other upper-middling teams would have had them in ages ago.

No, I think it's crazy to put the blame solely on Wenger. There is just not enough quality in the squad. They are lacking passion and desire. Bar Koscielny, Bellerin, Chamberlain and Sanchez(before this last 3weeks) there's no heart or drive in the squad.
I personally think the powers that be are happy with top 4 and are not allowing Wenger to spend. It's utterly depressing as an Arsenal fan

As a Spurs fan i hate giving advice but i think the **** fans should be careful, it might be easy getting a new super-duper manager in when you have hundreds of millions to spend in the transfer market and hundreds of thousands a week on wages, and even then it can go wrong, but your club like Spurs doesn't run that way, your board has to run the club on a budget, sensible imho, but to do that you need a different class of manager, you got lucky with Wenger, i am hoping we got lucky with Poch but look how long it took us to find him, are you prepared to take that gamble?

Think its disgusting the way the fans are carrying on, given how long Wenger has been there you can be sure than a large percentage of these "fans" were glory hunters, glory that Wenger brought to them.

I hope he goes, and you sink like a stone.

I know what i'll be watching again tonight

Get Mers & Adams in there, they'll sort 'em out!

Wenger has already decided he will leave. The board knows it and he will most likely move to PSG or
Barcelona in the Summer. He does not want the same thing to happen to Arsenal like man Utd when the last
4 weeks were a circus when Fergie announced it.

Yes. Wenger out! Then all you have to do is outspend Man City & Chelsea to maybe have a chance of the PL.

It'll bankrupt you but it'll make your fans happy

I always thought it a tad harsh that the Manager takes all the blame when there are 11 players on the pitch who are also not delivering.

yeah but it's not 11 players underperforming for 1 game or 1 season. players have come and gone but the manager is still there despite over 10 years of "success" in qualifying for the champions league....LOL

Looking forward to the new manager's first press conference in a couple of months.

Last 3 encounters..

Bayern 15 - 3 Arsenal.

That is awful. Wenger has no plan B, actually i don't even think he has plan A. Feel sorry for Arsenal fans, they deserve a champions league win by now. Wenger did great in his early years, but as those with banners noted... he is stale now.

They haven't spent enough, he's been so consistent that it's become boring for the fans which is ridiculous really. Needed a few better players over the years to be contenders.

Why do they? They have only ever won one European trophy and that was by boring the opposition into the ground under George Graham.

yeah i suppose he should be admired for sticking to his principles and being satisfied with mediocrity.

Hang on a moment! I know people are saying that the FA Cup has lost its magic, but who keeps winning it recently?
Surely a trophy is a trophy which should be marked as a success.
Surely Arsenal fans of all people know just how difficult it is to win every single game?
I can't see it happening myself but woe betide if Lincoln City (Up the Imps!) knock them out. I can see the FA Cup mattering a lot more than it appears to be now.

Maybe they would win a few more games if they didn't insist on passing sideways/backwards 400 times before attempting a shot on goal . Think the days of long term managers are virtually over at this level .

I'd happily see him go now. I expect their to be disruption for a couple of seasons at least and I don't see any reason why the process of rebuilding the club should be delayed.

Don't get me wrong, until 5 years ago I have enjoyed Wenger's time in charge and think he has been wonderful for the club and for English football in general but his time should be over.

arsenal ARE a big club anyone will want the job. Simeone is one name but maybe if they actually get someone who wants to win....

Who buys and picks the players and inspires them? There is money available, look at the accounts and at what Usmanov has said.

Wenger is a dinosaur, Too stubborn for the modern game and they can't or won't compete financially. I don't think they should sack him, Wenger should step down himself.

Oh that is a surety. He will resign & will maybe take a role of youth development (which you have to admit he is a genius at).

He will resign of his own accord before next season.

Why would Simeone or Allegri want to manage Arsenal when they can achieve as much where they are?

Howe would think all his Christmases had come together & fail instantly. He would be totally out of his league in a club the size of Arsenal. Thats just silly talk.

Because like i say, Wengers early days were fantastic between sort of 1997-2003, Some great footballers graced our league such as Henry, Pires, Bergkamp, Vieira, Seaman, Adams, Kanu, Anelka. They won 3 titles in a 6 year period. Remember chelsea winning the champions league playing the most awful football you've ever seen?. I think Arsenal and Arsenal fans deserve a champions league over Chelsea. Without a doubt Wenger took Arsenal to another level that Graham failed to do. Now Arsenal need a modern quality manager such as Allegri, Simeone. But first they need a leader in the team, such as Adams, Vieira was for them back in the day.

Was thinking just that last night. That is precisely right. Arsenal have never been off 2 hardcore players that can handle midfield & drop to defensive.

Basically 2 bullies.
