    Is it worth £200 more

Ok so im on the verge of getting a hdtv
But although i know i cant afford an amazing tv or one with 1080p- i still want something big and decent

    I want anywhere from a 37inch ot 42inch

But im torn between 2 models

    Samsung LE37R87BDX
    Cheapest online price of £455

    Samsung PS42Q97HDX
    Cheapest online price of £626.15

Thats nearly £200 different for 5 inches
Im going to price match both on johnlewis so i can get the good price and 5 year warranty
Also the 42 has 15000:1 contrast
    42 is a plasma
    1500 brightness
But thats about it and im wondering if its worth £170 extra for 5 inches and a better blackness

I didnt want to spend more than £700 and wanted a 1080p tv thats decent but i found it hard so settled for just 1080i

I currently have a 28inch bush crt widescreen tv with a screen width of 23inches so you can understand its a massive jump between the 2

Can anyone suggest which way to go as if i cant decided i will probably end up not getting either

I think you need to look at the size of your room and how far away you wiull be when watching it.

I tried playing my xBox 360 on a projector in my front room and it made me feel sick!
Its also easy to get carried away with I want a 32" but a 37" is only £40 dearer and then from thee a 42" is only £100 dearer etc...

Personally I think a 37" is plenty big enough and when you start looking at bigger than that the quality of the TV becomes more and more important i.e. pixels, resolution, 1080 etc..

Im in the same boat. I have a Bush 28" CRT and want a new LCD (mainly for my 360) and am torn between a 32" and a 37" (both samsung), personally I've decided to wait it out for a while but failing that I would go for the 32" as it will look better and be plenty big enough.

On that basis if I you I'd get the 37" and save the difference.

Hi, can you tell me where the Samsung LE37R87BDX is £455 please?

I will be sitting about a metre from the screen
Think i will be getting the 37inch as ive decided against plasma
Will save the extra £22 and put it toward a ps3
    Just kidding t0mm

37" sounds a bit overkill if you're only sitting a metre away, sounds like a 32" might be more appropriate. I think its a good choice going for LCD over plasma.

i would say bigger is better lol, But not for 220 more.

Sitting a metre away from a 37" TV will do your eyes in.
