Is it worth paying £32 extra for 3yr warranty?

Hi, just looking for peoples opinions on the value of an extra 2 years warranty on an LCD TV.

I've currently got on order, to be delivered in next 13 days, a Samsung le37r88bd from Currys which after voucher and quidco comes to £582. This comes with the standard 1 year warranty.

However I'm tempted to use the empire direct 10% and buy the le37r87bd which would cost me £614.93 (to collect myself) after quidco and buying the ED extra card which ups the warranty to 3 years.

I'm not sure if its worth paying extra for the warranty or not and wondered what you guys think?

Thanks

Well if its £32 extra for 3 years, give or take a bit thats £10 a year, I'd say its well worth the extra!

yes do it

Check what the warranty covers, but I'd say yes. I bought cover for my new digi cam as the warranty on that even covers it being dropped

Thanks for advice, with a unanimous "yes" I think it could be an easy decision.

I've checked the cover and their is no accidental damage but should the worse come to the worse then I've got my contents cover.

Just need to convince the wife now :-D

I think the fact it will come a lot quicker should clinch it.

No certainly not, order it from John Lewis they give 5years warranty for free on TV's and should price match Currys.

Edit: This might sweeten it too ]http//ww…hn- + 8% quidco on electricals I think

I thought about that mega but the currys price is an online only price and instore its £849! From what I've read about JL they only match the price displayed instore.

Thanks anyway though.

Fair enough - still worth a try right?.

of course take it its a tv. only 10 per year but u must check the terms and condition as it might be a usless cover.

I am in the same situation about where to buy from, EmpireDirect or JohnLewis. But i am just pushing towards JohnLewis as it offers 5 years & has good rep about the company.EmpireDirect cards cost £20 per year so will equal £60 for 3 years cover & £15 delivery.JohnLewis is all inclusive for about £75 more but worth the extra for 2 more years cover.

Thanks for advice everyone.

Finally bit the bullet and ordered from ED, although went for the le40r87 instead of the 32". With extra cover of course;-) Worked out about £704 after quidco.

Seriously considerd the JL pricematch but to be honest I'm stretching budget as it is so any extra is too much. And I'm a bit to lazy :lazy:
