Is it worth paying british gas £219 for a magna booster for my boiler/cntral heating?

Posted 4th Feb 2013
British gas have quoted me £219 for a magnabooster incl. fitting which supposedly helps filter/remove sludge from my central heating pipes etc.they are fairly old but boiler seems to stop working every other month now..does anyone know if this will be the answer to all my boiler problems or is it a waste of money?

No as it is a long term prevention rather than a short term fix. Probably wiser to replace the boiler in the near future if it has seen better days.
Agreed, it might be a short term fix but there is still an underlying issue which will surface eventually. I'd consider a new boiler to be honest.
You could save £140 and fit one yourself

Hope this helps-had one fitted by BG 2 years ago following the fitting of a new boilier and a power flush through my system radiators and pipes. The system was then re filled with new inhibitor and now on the anual service the BG engineer clears about a mugfull of gunge from the powerflush unit.Everything works fine I was told that the modern boiler can be ruined if contaminates get in it and that would invalidate the warranty but the system had to be powerflushed first.Works for me .
Thanks for your comments...as sludge is the problem then might be worth paying that much getting the magnabooster and also changing the radiators an old pipes...if it adds a couple of years to boiler life then its definitely worth it..
