JL have given a price match against product code 82460213 seen at Power Direct.

So the big question is that Sony Bravia 65XE9005 + 5 year warranty for £1999 from John Lewis a good deal ? I have not seen any deals posted for that model so not sure if its still a good price or I can get more for my money given 65" models.

There are still a few KS9500 units around for slightly more, that was Samsung's flagship for last year.

The XD93 can be had for substantially less and while different people seem to have different opinion which of the two are better it's at least comparable.

The Philips 7601 is also in stock again at £1500 which is worth a look, although not quite the deal it was when other models were more expensive.

Good price for the set, but as someone said the XD93 is a good option.

Another problem is the new hdmi standard coming out soon, could encourage you to hold fire for a while.

Would recommend the TV though!

New HDMI standard, are you saying that's going to drive down prices on current models then ?

Unless you don't mind waiting, and then require the bandwidth and waiting for media to be released that uses the new standard to its full then yes wait. In the real world of things get what you require now.

If you're happy to wait two and a half years or more than new standards might be worth considering . If you want something by the end of the year then your choice is what's on offer now.

I would expect 2017 models like the XE90 to drop in price as Christmas approaches though. As a comparison the 65" XD93 dropped from £2,400 to £1,900 between July and December last year.

While the XE93 is more expensive (brexit et al.) it'll probably not be far off £2k by the end of the year.
