Is there a clever/cheap way of getting a NUS card?

I am getting fed up of all the offers giving students 10%. I hate buying from shops who charge students 10% less. arrghh!

When I was a student these offers didn't exist, nor did I have the money to spend. (grumble)

Has anyone got a crafty way of getting a NUS card?

First you could get away showing the card even though it was out of date but now they swipe it and gets authorised which is a pain as you have to register it online to make it active!!!

£10 a year or £25 for 3 years
Most just look at your student card and does not have to be in date!! Just some ask for a actual NUS card, just say oh do we get a student discount and just flash your card at them!!
When i applied for a student card in my first year of Sixth Form, you had to fill out a form and get it stamped by the school/college with their custom stamp or have a covering letter from a tutor saying you were a student at the school.

I'd suggest getting hold of a paper application (go to local college/print from website?) and then make up a 'covering letter' from Mr Joe Bloggs at your local sixth form/college/Uni..
Theres NUS and NUS extra

In my experience regular NUS in normally at more colleges but give you the option of buying an NUS extra.

And some colleges offer the NUS card free some charge £2, some £3, its not always the card you are paying for though as they give you freebies when you even buy a replacement normally.
not fair to make students pay for NUS priveliges (sp?) !!
its well worth it imo, i have saved loads with mine!

new look 20% recently, dorothy perkins all the time 10-15%

will dffo be great for xmas too
Our college wanted £10 for a NUS card, i wouldnt even make that in savings.
