I let my UK account lapse. Next day, tried my Starling card but it was failing. Added a gift card from G2A to cover ~ 40 days. My Starling is added as backup source. Not sure what will happen as is - will it start taking from Starling, or not. I'm happy enough using gift cards if I have to.

Youll have to let your current Netflix subscription run out.
1) download a free VPN on your mobile. I use windscribe on Android, I assume similar should be available on ios but not sure. 2) open the VPN app. Find Turkey in the list and connect. 3) go to Netflix on your browser. Go into help and find the section for pricing plans. This should show in TRY rather than GBP if you've done this right. 4) use another device, or disconnect from the VPN. Purchase a 100TL gift card from G2A site. Once purchased get your redemption code ready. 5) reconnect to VPN if you need to. Go to Netflix and into your account settings where you should find the option to redeem a gift card. Enter your purchased code. 6) you should be good to go for approx 5 weeks. If all is well, repeat again once your credit runs out.
I forgot to mention that the MOST IMPORTANT thing is to NOT try more than one card per 4-5 hours. You'll get a "silent" lock on your account and all cards will fail. If this happens wait 24h and try again only after that

I've recently done it.
Get a monzo/starling/revolut card. If you've already got a Netflix sub, make sure you let it run out. After it runs out, get a Turkish VPN and log in, when it asks you to restart your subscription do so with a card mentioned above. I use Monzo. Make sure prices are in TRL.
If you wanna go even cheaper, you can instead redeem Turkish gift cards which add up to a lot more months for the buck. But at the same time add a card as well jic you forget to top up with the gift cards.

Revolut is a full on bank account and card. It's going through the motions to become a proper UK registered bank with all the stuff that brings. I use my card for foreign currency when abroad and here in the UK if I need too.

Make sure you get a starling or even new chase account. Both can be used abroad and paying online on Turkish Netflix with excellent exchange rates.

Due to the above, I have found that the IP address provided by the most used VPNs can be blacklisted as well. It took me days to renew my credit card in the account. So, if you have issues, try another vpn as well. There are many with a Turkish server that can be used for free.

It isn't anywhere because it doesn't work like that. When you add a payment method, you need to use your Revolut virtual debit card like you would a normal debit card.
The method everyone is saying does not work anymore, I do all the steps with verifying my account before letting it expire but when I try to restart the subscription in turkey it always asks me for a turkish phone number to verify. Unless someone has a method of circumventing it asking me for a turkish phone number or knows how to get a turkish phone number to verify for the first time?

Get your account fully verified in the UK, including a phone number. I've just signed in to my one to find I didn't have a valid phone number so I've just added my mobile and verified it fine.
Then you do let your account expire (sorry..), but you need to then buy a cheap turkish gift card for a month's access from somewhere like G2A. Start your VPN to turkey and then redeem the gift card to reactivate the account.
Then go to live chat and tell them you want to add a payment method (or, ideally, a backup payment method) and that you're having problems. They should send you a secure link to add a debit card and you'll be good to go.
Now depending on the operator you talk to, the conversation could go a number of ways. Some of them don't care and will just send you the link and add the card.
Some of them will interrogate you as to why your account and/or card is registered in the UK and if you are using a VPN e.t.c..
A good answer to give is that you're an ex-pat who has moved to Turkey but you're trying to register locally with your debit card as that's the only one you have at the moment. You also have to use the VPN for work purposes as you're on your works laptop.
Or if you can think of a better excuse.

The gift card will get your account active, which is the main thing at the moment. So just make sure you verify your UK phone number before letting the account expire. Because you can't reactivate with your payment method any more, it's not that important to get that verified, but I think it's handy to have a debit card set as your primary payment method anyway.
That way, when you go to live chat you can ask them to add a backup payment method and it makes more sense.
What I'd do is to maybe add any random debit card you might have as your primary, but keep the debit card you'd prefer to use in reserve. That way, when you go to live chat to ask them to add the backup method, you can use your preferred debit card.
When that's added, remove the primary payment method and your backup will then default as the new primary and it'll come off the debit card you want to use.

Sorry you're are correct it isn't with a license. You can treat it like a bank account though. Get paid into it. Direct debits etc. But I wouldn't until it has the license as you say which comes with the £80k protection.

I can confirm I just updated my payment details via chat as Barclays replaced my current debit card. New card would not work via chat. Had to update to a Revolut virtual debit that worked a treat.
All I had to do was enter the old card number for verification and then they sent a new secure form to update. Start to finish took about 5 min
