Is this a good deal - please help I know it's a common question!

    Hi

I know this has been asked again and again. Here is what I've seen:

    direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

My budget is really less than £250. This is coming in at £279, however my view is that I could probably get it for less than £250 with some banked money off vouchers with Tesco, Quidco and with this laptop for £10 I can have the Canon MP140 All in one printer which is coming up as £89. If I can flog this on Ebay for say £50 new never opened as I've got a printer, I could be looking at a good deal perhaps?

Need it to do the follwing:
    Browse Internet
    Downloand tunes/burn disc
    General Word processing/office
Don't do games just general stuff. Not bothered about webcam, but would have liked blue tooth, but no worries if not.

Can anyone advise me of a better deal for what I want. Netbooks are off as I need a disc drive and dont want a seperate one????

    Much appreciated.

    Rachel

Even for just what I want it for? It doesn't need to be lightening fast!

it would be sufficient for your basic needs but with laptop prices droppin so much not sure if its the best you could get for your price range esp if your lookin at refurbished

for just slightly over budget you can get double the memory and bigger harddrive on one like this:

check out sites like currys and pcworld at there refurbished section for others

I suppose refurbished may be ok if it comes with at least 1 year guarantee, just being sceptical. onlyme23 do you think it is possible to get a refurbished laptop for under £200 and do you have any recommendations.

I am not a technical person so am a bit lost!

they do pop up sometimes but usually terrible specs, its usually better spending the extra to get something that will last a while, and not take 10 years to do anything lol

oh and alot of refurbished laptops dont come with full warranty so watch out for that

Right then, new laptop for £250, think I will steer clear of refurbished laptops though unless like some of the Packard Bell ones on the Currys website (which are sold out!) stated full 12 months warranty! Thanks, I will just have to keep me eye out

heres another which is again over your original budget at 280 but brand new with 1 year warranty and not bad specs

That seems ok, lots of voucher codes for free gifts, etc and 7% quidco.

wait until next month if you can. theres always cheap deals on laptops this time of year
