Bonfire Night is fun for us, but millions of pets find the firework festivities extremely frightening and stressful.

I wonder whether my hens will like them.

our labrador hates them! But the dalmy(not the brightest animal) stands on the couch and looks out the window-he loves em!

dunno, i'll chuck a firecracker at it and i'll let you know.

My Golden Retriever (RIP) used to hide behind the back of a chair - or behind me if I was sitting on the chair. She hated firworks (and thunderstorms)

Just keep them locked up in the shed overnight and they should be ok.

Okkkkkkkkkkkk

We were advised by vet to put bachs flower remedy (get from chemist) in to the dogs water during the day when you know the fireworks are going to be going off in the night (e.g. bonfire night and weekend before and after) and if its bothering the dog at the time (e.g. dont know fireworks going to be going off) then put some on tongue.

Dog hated them but was much calmer

They are getting a new home soon.

So they will be all cosy

was watching a program about a rescue shelter and they played background noises /firework sounds to get the dogs used to it, I would have thought anyone with a dog would try this trick if its gonna keep them calm

Our cats terrified of them and hides behind the TV or the washing machine (when their off).

It used to be we could plug these Feliways things in to claim him down the week before, but now we've morons letting them off for the month before hand its a nightmare.

Not exactly a pet, but my 6yr old (daughter) is scared of fireworks (even hearing them from a distance)

A bump for anyone concerned about their pets this week.

Our last dog hated them, he used to go upstairs, find a cupboard and promptly empty it then hide at the back. I'm not sure how the current one will do as it will be his first proper experience of fireworks although he's been fascinated by the occasional ones he's heard going off.

So are my hens.

Do you work weekends?

Never bothered my dog.

Even when we set off fireworks in the garden he wouldn't move, weird as he scares himself when he farts.

Its not just a case of whether the animal is scared of the noise. In some areas kids with fireworks will torment animals (or anyone else). Safer to ensure that any pets are kept indoors imo.

Dogs are a bit unpredictable when they are shocked

My cats don't seem to be. Some were going off last night, fat cat headed off to the kitchen window to get a better look and the other one went upstairs to get a better view out of the landing window. But nothing about these 2 cats is normal
