    Issues with ebay seller

    Hi guys. Just after a little advice/opinion. I bought a pair of shoes from an eBay seller on 28th November. This seller wouldn't respond to me for days after I asked for a tracking number. I waited a week. And then she eventually got in touch with me. She told me she was on holiday and her mum sent the shoes. And she didn't get a tracking number. But insisted she sent them first class signed for. So I waited again. Then a few days later she messaged me to say that she was so sorry the shoes had been sent to someone else who had bought a pair too. Meaning that person got two pairs and she would have to refund me. She tried to send me the money via PayPal goods. I instantly refunded that back to her and told her I want the money back via ebay as its the way it should be done and we are both protected that way. She said she didn't know how to refund me through ebay and that I should sort it my end. So I opened a dispute with ebay. Telling them I haven't got my item. All she needed to do was respond to that dispute and they would issue the refund for her right? Instead shes chose to ignore it. And is now claiming that she never got a payment from me in the first place. I've sent her Screenshot proof of the funds leaving my bank and my paypal into her account. And have also called PayPal in which the gent I spoken to told me instantly she got the money into her account on the 29th Nov. To this moment now she's still arguing with me about it via ebay messages and refuses to respond to the dispute. Am I right in thinking the only thing I can do is wait for ebay to respond to this themselves and take control of the dispute and issue me my refund? As it stands I'm left frustrated.. £125 out of pocket and with no product I paid for.

    Once the deadline hits eBay can step in, 99% of the time they will side with the buyer and refund you themselves. As they state themselves they have a "Money Back Guarantee" so you will be good.

    I hope so, I've been using ebay since 2007 and have never dealt with somebody so cheeky! It's really a pain

    Thats reassuring to know. First ever issue with something like this in almost 10 years so was a little worried they might just take her word for it. Will they check the transaction details and see that my money went to her do you think?

    She was already attempting to get the funds back to me rapidly via PayPal only. I assume she would of just returned this back to herself via a PayPal dispute and I'd of left without a leg to stand on. I agree sellers like this are a nightmare. I only use ebay for small purchases nowadays myself but my cousin wanted these shoes for her daughter so I done her the favour.

    I've had two refunds via not receiving items via eBay involvement no issues. Just have to wait I'm afraid

    Yes I said that to her. Surely you wouldn't send the shoes, even if it was to the incorrect address, in the first place if you hadn't gotten payment for them.

    Yep, you were right to ask for the refund via ebay. They wait for a certain amount of time, review the case and they will rule in your favour. Generally if there is an issue with an ebay item, i've found it better to open a case via ebay for communication rather than ask a question of the seller, as it's been those times when things haven't worked out, and i've been left out of pocket for returns etc.

    "Didn't get" or "didn't retain"? When buying the service called "Royal Mail Signed For 1st Class" the purchaser is provided with a 13-character tracking number that (if the item is successfully delivered) will provide the RM delivery office and a recipient name signature+image. If not successfully delivered, it will itemise the return stages. Just sayin'. View delivery/return progress via dropping the (typically) 13-character tracking ref onto the end of this URL:

    You must open a dispute quickly with Ebay, guidelines are all on the site. If the seller doesnt respond there Ebay will refund you for sure - just make sure you keep an eye on the dates and what you to do by then. You will get your money so long as you follow the correct procedure. Putting a reminder in your calendar helps for the dates.

    She can ignore it all she wants, PayPal will find in your favour. Will just take a little while for it to be down to PayPal.

    ​I buy and sell on eBay, I once bought a £150 tablet on eBay from a seller, it did not work and I sent it back using eBay's return label and just my luck the royal mail lost it so it was not the sellers fault and eBay's return label only covers £50 if lost..despite that after the allotted time eBay closed the case and refunded me my full amount.

    I'm confused as to why you refunded the payment back to her once she'd sent it anyway,as long as she refunded you the full amount she would have been out of pocket on fees,you would'n't have lost anything so it would have made sense to keep it and all this hassle would have been avoided.

    She sent it back to me via PayPal goods. PayPal took a charge. If I'd of closed the case with ebay and told them all was fine. She could have easily got the funds back to herself via PayPal and I'd of been stuck with no backup from ebay. If she sent them via gift/friends and family id of been fine with that

    Do not rely on email messages (that can be spoofed). Log-in to your ebay account to check the dispute reflects the expected refund. I'm intrigued by the 11-day wait for the refund; I have had a small number of disputes refunded immediately when found in my favour.

    ThiS was through the ebay dispute. Ive jus checked the resolution center and the note from ebay is


    the seller sent you a refund. Please wait for the refund to process it should be clear on Dec 20

    I know, but as the seller refunded you will have to wait until sufficient funds in their account. if it went to resolution and eBay refunded, you get it straight away and then eBay chase the seller. another reason for waiting is the time it takes between banks getting the instruction and getting payment to PayPal. normally it's instant but if PayPal haven't received your payment yet from your bank it will take longer until they are in the black with both the buyer and seller especially with refunds.
