.IT domain names... Question

I just purchased a .IT domain name. However I am having issues with filling out a contract form that is apparently standard practise for .IT domain name owners. It is asking me for a fiscal code/identity document number... What is that in UK terms?

Also just a though but are residents in the UK allowed to own a .IT domain name?

I looked it up before and was sure that I was able to because the UK is part of the EU?!

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated

It looks like an italian personal identity number. If they are asking for it it's a good sign you have to be italian to register an italian domain.
I wonder if sh.it has been registered yet?.:-D

Looks like you can if you are an eu citizen just put you N.I Number in.

Dot it domains can be registered by companies with a VAT number or … Dot it domains can be registered by companies with a VAT number or private individuals with a National Insurance number. A legal presence in a country that is a member of the European Union is required, so this excludes most US companies and citizens.

Fiscal code sound like they are asking for the company registration number. Identity document number sounds more like passport number to me.

Only natural persons or juridical persons who possess citizenship, reside in or have a registered office in one of the member states of the European Union can register domain names under .IT

So it you live in the UK you are allowed to register an .IT domain.

asynchronousthe Registrant or the Maintainer must submit a paper … asynchronousthe Registrant or the Maintainer must submit a paper application (LAR, Letter of ownership) to the .it Registry. To complete the operation, the Maintainer must in turn send the "electronic form for registration" via email or via web.synchronous (STARTING FROM 28 SEPTEMBER 2009)the Registrant must contact the Registrar who then registers the domain in real time directly, without any paperwork. The system is based on the EPP (Extensible Provisioning Protocol). The .it Registry manages and updates the archive of domain names (DBNA, database of assigned domain names). The database is the same both for synchronous as well as asynchronous domains. The data are freely viewable, within the limits of the privacy of the users. The Registry also allows you to check the status of registrations of an individual .it domain.

Might be worth waiting a few days with the registration, so you don't have to fill in all the paper forms.

What are the requirements for domain registration in Italy (.it)?

The owner must be an individual or juridical persons residing in or belonging to a European Union Member State.

can't find any more info but try this website nic.it/cre…nes
