it is a misconception (follow on from trampoline thread)

that you can do what you like in your own house or garden. If your activities infringe on someone else's life then you can be stopped. By law you are not allowed to affect someone else's quality of life and if having a 12 foot trampoline in your back garden infringes on someone elses space and is detrimental to their quality of life (they will have to prove it) you can be made to take it down. My neighbour has one right next to my fence and it is very annoying having someone jumping up and down and staring right at you when you are trying to enjoy your garden. I haven't complained to her yet, I live in t hope that the novelty will wear of.

Although I assume it would be highly annoying, in the eyes of the law they are probably not doing anything wrong.

Unfortunately you are either going to have to put up with it or ask them if it is possible to re-site the trampoline elsewhere.

There seems to be a few posts about this subject on here lately, views are split as to whether the owner or neighbour is 'in the wrong'

Personally if you were a respectful neighbour you would try and position it where it caused no offence to anyone.

Is it law these days that at least one of your neighbours must do something that annoys you? I'd love to live in a farmhouse miles from the nearest person sometimes.

I know what you mean, neighbours should respect each others privacy and right to a decent quality of life - my parents have the same problem behind them with neighbours' kids(undisciplined brats) jumping out of upstairs windows onto a trampoline in the garden, we are expecting a broken neck sooner or later !!

But if you don't say anything to them now (even lighthearted) and the novelty never wears off they're going to think it a bit strange you didn't say anything months before. How long would you leave it before saying something?

You cannot do nothing, it's not physically a building or something blocking your view, it's a person.

Well my kids have had a 10ft trampoline for over 2 years and they still use it daily, so i wouldn't count on them getting bored of it soon. Can parents win? if your child is indoors watching tv playing computer games your told your a bad parent, that they should be out getting exicise, you do this then people moan because of a trampoline bouncing away! If you have neighbours expect to hear them to some degree! If they was in the garden shouting," f " ing and blinding then fair enough but kids just having inocent fun, get over it!

Well said i hate my neighbours. I moved into a house last year around the corner from my childhood home so i knew who my neighbours were going to be and the trouble i would have.

We are in a normal area but they are really snobby. Wont let you have access to their garden to get the bins out they do it for you. Complain about noise all the time and foned the police when we got a new puppy she said to the police that we had a monkey,Puppies cry the first few nights in a new home.

People really need to concentrate on their own problems and not concentrate on their neighbours so much. (this applies to my situation OP)

Trust me you wouldnt - the inlaws have a farm, downsides are no mobile signal, broadband at 256kb or 512kb on a good day, no TV signal (not a problem with satellite though), when it snows theres no plows come past so you have to DIY with your tractor before you even think of trying the land rover, a weekend there is bad enough!
