4 whole fried chickens (and a coke)

One of my favourite opening scenes to a movie

The Soul Food Cafe, where Aretha Franklin sings, was Nate's Deli on Chicago's famed Maxwell Street. Sad to say, it is now a parking lot.

had to google it but . . . .

Mrs. Murphy: May I help you boys?
Elwood: You got any white bread?
Mrs. Murphy: Yes.
Elwood: I'll have some toasted white bread please.
Mrs. Murphy: You want butter or jam on that toast, honey?
Elwood: No ma'am, dry.
[Mrs. Murphy gives him a look, then turns to Jake]
Jake: Got any fried chicken?
Mrs. Murphy: Best damn chicken in the state.
Jake: Bring me four fried chickens and a Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: You want chicken wings or chicken legs?
Jake: Four fried chickens and a Coke.
Elwood: And some dry white toast please.
Mrs. Murphy: Y'all want anything to drink with that?
Elwood: No ma'am.
Jake: A Coke.
Mrs. Murphy: Be up in a minute

That and Sister Mary Stigmata smacking them round the head!!! This is not just any film! this is a Dan Aykryod and James Belushi film, (oh and John Landis had something to do with it!!!)

"I want to buy your childrens.....how much for your wife??" Absolute classic film - I can just watch it time and time again. Hard to believe that it absolutely bombed when it first came out and only became a cult classic much later. The sequel made me puke.

Lol - 10 yrs ago but I remember it well. It was out in the street - they pulled up in the Bluesmobile and started singing. I got so excited I ran up after the show to ask for their autographs. The boys, small then, looked at me sadly and one of them said 'You do know they're not the real Blues Brothers, don't you daddy.' Fond memories of happy days

It's 106 miles to Chicago

I never understood how they left their gig after a couple of songs, drove 106 miles and arrived in chicago in daylight oO Everybody needs somebody, but what they really needed was a TomTom.

If I remember right, there were over 70 stuntmen listed in the credits.
