It's going to take 2 days to backup my DATA ???!!! WTF

Just got 2x 2TB Hard Drive to replace my existing 2x 500GB Hard Disk (95% Full)
It took 4 Hour to initialise the disk and now it says it is going to take almost 20 hour to backup the file..
And I have to repeat the procedure again to fit the other 2tb drive in once the first one is synchronised.. therefore, it is gong to take a minimum 2 days to complete the process...

Anyone know a quicker way to process.. I am using Readynas DUo

Dont know of a quicker way... but it sounds about right. Had the same issues on my 4 x 2TB media server.

Presuming your PC and your NAS both support Gigabit ethernet, manually configure the IP address of them to be something like 192.168.0.10 for the PC and 192.168.0.11 for the NAS and set the Subnet mask on both to be 255.255.255.0 , then connect the NAS direct to the PC's ethernet port. All working as planned, this should enable the 1000mbps transfer rate, 10x the standard 100mbit ethernet rate (and about ten thousand times a standard WiFi rate). Or, it should make large files shoot across at somewhere around 60-90MB/s, to put it in practical terms.

I can't do that as the files is already in the 2 Bay NAS.. Bay 1 is trying to backup Bay 2 and it will take 20 hours.

setting up a raid array takes ages... be patient
