    Itunes warning

Yesterday my bank account was cleared out, initially i suspected my card had been compromised so immediately cancelled.
Loyds tsb could only tell me there had been 15 transactions for £30 each and to call back when the transactions show on my account.
A few hours later i get an itunes invoice for £30 and immediately check my history to discover my account has been hacked and someone has used my funds and card to gift other accounts to the sum of £450.
A quick google search turns up that hacked itunes accounts are being sold online this week in china and this is obv how they are funded.
I have always been extra carefull regarding password security, I tunes is just not secure.
I would recommend people to remove any cards they have stored on itunes to minimise damage if there account is hacked.
If your unsure about this search on twitter for "itunes hacked"

I hope so, they have no phone support whatsover so had to email them regarding it and wait it out.
Ive heard mixed things where apple will sometimes refund and others send you back to your bank. Id prefer to be refunded as trying to get a chargeback on a visa debit might take some time. Absolutly raging as this has left me with £20 to my name right after christmas.

This is weird as I have been having bother with Itunes past three weeks. Its only for small amounts

    e.g bought 1 song @ 99p - bank statement showed £1.99
    2 songs @ 79p - bank statement showed £1.49 for each track
    1 album @ 5.49 bank statement showed £8.49

I contacted Itunes but each time they reply showing me my account which does state correct amount.

I've removed mine too, not the first time I've heard about this

I can see this becoming very common, apple have no antifraud systems in place and its now being seriously exploited.

Get your card off straight away! Another scam ive just read about is the hackers use your account to buy their own apps for money or ratings. As its only a couple of pound it usually goes unnoticed untill they clear you out

I have never registered my card with itunes as I just buy vouchers when on offers e.g. the WHsmiths offer £5 off any card. I don't see a reason to add a card tbh

Not always true that is it!!
Just because someone may use a family member as a password how the hell would someone in china randomly guess it other than hack into personal details stored on your pc or maybe do some digging round social networking sites

I would wonder if itunes uk/ if that exists, it they didn't have proper protection in place if they'd be in breach of DPA etc.

My iTunes account was charged with £12 a few months ago, apparently an in-app purchase but I hadn't used my phone on the date in question. iTunes were good, refunded it pretty promptly and luckily I only had gift card balance rather than a credit card linked to it.

Agreed, although my password was in no way easy. As I said in my original post I've always taken passwords seriously and this password was more that enough to meet any complexity requirements I have encountered

Apple should be Fined for all this Nonsense & maybe they should also allow the people who lost Money also have Free Apps to the same amount even after they have been refunded.

Apple don't care. if apps are refunded apple keep their commission so they can make money from it. im not sure if this applies to fraud cases though.
