Ive just bought sat nav, looking for a review?

Just bought the Goodmans GNAV20 from ebuyer, i rang them, but they cant give me any info on it, ive googled it etc, but cant find anything?

    Whats all this cd-rom about?

Does it use batterys or ciggy lighter'r plugger in?

Seemed to go a price to pass it up since i have 10 days to return it from when it arrives, just wanted to know a little more?
    How does it update?

    Thanks people ;-)

No review, sorry - but a tip!

When travelling over a bridge and it says turn left now - don't!

I found out the hard way.

    No sorry I don't.

I always hire a Lithuanian man called Algis to map read for me. I offer to pay him when we get back but I always tell him to get out when I reach my destination and then offer him a lift back instead of payment. Works every time.

This system got maps on CD-ROM. Just like Blaupunkt Travelpilot satnavs.

You do realize that Goodmans isn't full map navigation but rather turn-by-turn one? Nothing wrong with this, but you'll need to get used to it.

Do this mean it will just randomly tell me when to turn?
Im so new to all of this LOL

Nah, ust randomly tell me when to turn is ladies' privilege! Kind of :
    She: Turn here!
    He: Where?
She: Here, you just passed it!

Jokes aside, it'll draw an arrow pointing to the right direction and voice (probably female) will say something like "Right turn ahead, please turn right".
Again, there is nothing wrong with this kind of screen. I have such navigation in my Ford and it is OK.

left after a bridge is usually a river so make sure you buy a waterproof cover for the sat nav.

I bought the medion one that was posted on here from theTesco Direct offer. I found it odd that it said turn left/right etc when it actually meant follow the road bearing to the right/ left etc. I did'nt really like it so was glad when it kept crashing .. i took it back and got a refund ...
hope you have better luck with yours Joshanna

I have the TomTom One v2 and had a pda based tomtom before that, i think you may find all satnav mean follow the roads really

Yup, agree with Windy. I have 3 satnavs (1 in each car + TomTom6 in mobile phone) and all 3 got its own quirks. My point was that this Goodmans doesn't draw the map but just shows an arrow instead. Just like this Blaupunkt, for example:
    http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock_image/amsterdam_xl.jpg

It shows direction (left turn) and distance to that turn (bars on right-hand side). In addition, voice prompt tells you to prepare for the turn (Turn left in 200 yards), then tells you to make the turn (Please turn left now).
