beat me to it by a minute!

    Hells yes.

In before the ones who said he used "excessive force" and is as bad as them for chasing etc.

Fair play to him, show the scum of the earth that they can't just do what they want when they want - People will stand up and fight back.

Whatever creed or colour, if they come into your house with the intend to rob or harm you (he came with a knife), I would have done the same thing. Thank god the courts have finally made a good decision.

As far as brain damage, lets all send him some McDonald straws!!

Great news! Catch a burglar, hold him as a defenceless prisoner, then while waiting for the Police to arrive decide to kill him (who needs a trial!), go get a cricket bat, hit him round the head so hard you break the bat into three pieces leaving the villain only half-dead - but permanently disabled! That'll teach him!

Now burglar can and will claim Criminal Injuries compensation and wile away the rest of his useless life on full disability benefit, no doubt adding up to hundreds of thousands of pounds for the good old taxpayer.

Sure there's a moral there somewhere........ hey why not also allow our Police to summarily execute anyone they think might be guilty of something as well?

His jail sentence is now 12 months suspended for two years.
These is also a supervision requirement for the two years.

His brother, 35-year-old Tokeer Hussain, who was also jailed for causing grievous bodily harm with intent, had his 39-month jail term reduced to two years.

Seems some people aren't reading the story.

Common sense at last, when told that he may be sent to jail for hitting the scumbag over the head with a cricket bat, he yelled ''Howzat''

Would possibly do the same if anyone broke into my house.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson said people who put themselves in danger to tackle criminals should be celebrated as "heroes".

Courageous members of the public "make our society worthwhile", he said as part of a widening political debate about the rights of people to use force to defend themselves.
    amen to this.

Ima grow a tache and change my name to Paul Kersey.

Wrong decision. Stick him back in jail.

so the guy he attacked would be in your house terrorising your family next?

    "excessive force"

so in that situation he should have calculated how much force would be required and swing the bat accordingly?

    the law is stupid.

problem a lot of the Judges are out of touch with reality and the genuine mood of the British people, thats why these silly sentences happen in the first place

According to ITV news.... the fella who was chased and beaten, resulting in 'brain damage,' is still out there and up to his old tricks....?

    he was brain damaged apparently

two other two scumbags escaped though

Yes..but I believe his 'brain damage' wasn't as bad as we were all led to believe. Hence why he is still out there robbing.
