Job interview....best way to get one!

There is an internal job coming up at work on the maternity ward which i really really want and am going to college (access course)and then uni to become a midwife. Thing is i have been told that over 100 people internal and outside will apply for this. My application is likely to be similar to 60% of the other staff here..how can i make mine stand out from the others so i will be remembered and get to the interview process...any ideas?!!!

we put an ad out for a part-timer and a week left of a month deadline and already 270 applications ...

I really wish I could give you the answer to this one... unfortunately I think a lot of it will just come down to luck... So I wish you the very best

Maybe you could send your CV on different coloured paper,, i've heard of it working in the past

exactly i think i got no chance!!People on my training course all kept saying they want to work on maternity just to play with the babies!!So i know there will be plenty of applicants like that...but im serious....this is where my heart lies...i just hope i can show this enough to get an interview.

Sound enthusiastic, focus on good qualities and skills, go into detail.
As you say most are going to be similar, you have to make yours stand out when the powers that be are recalling the candidates:thumbsup:
    Good Luck

If its an internal job, then I suspect you already stand a better chance than an external application
Maybe you could use your inside contacts to give you the edge

That don't sound like such a good thing to say, don't think they be too impressed at interview with that.

hmm fold a napkin/paper like a diaper (origami), to accompany the CV?

contact them beforehand and ask if you can spend the day there watching what is done and how its done. You may well end up meeting the people who may be involved in the selection process. They will be able to put a face to the application. If you make a good impression they will invite you to interview
    Good luck
