    Job market for financial adviser

    Hey guys
I am interested in getting qualified to be a financial adviser, but searching on Gumtree I don't see many jobs advertised.

How is the market now to be a financial adviser/mortgage adviser?

I wouldn't have thought gumtree is where you would search for these types of jobs

surely HOTUKDEALS is the wrong place for this sort of question?! Maybe try a careers website?

Gumtree? Try: milkround, prospects, jobcentreplus, fish4jobs, jobsite, totaljobs. A quick google should be enough to find em all. Good luck!

    think b4 u type

Have a couple of friends who are FA's and because of the current climate (especially the housing market) they are saying work is very limited, if that helps.

I dare say by the time you qualify everything could have changed.

    What qualifications do they have?

^^ I dunno, they're qualified FA's and do it as their job. That's all I know.

I didn't have to think because I know the differance between the two, a financial; advisor give advice and sells financial products like pension plans, life insurance, endowment policies and other investment products as well as giving advice on capital management and balancing income from investments against capital gains taxes ect. Some may give mortgage advice, but they need the relevant qualification and registration to sell mortgage products.

I wasn't answering the op....I was making the distinction between a mortgage advisor and an FA....they are two different things.

Wellll above you said that the OP said FA not MA and in fact he said both! Just sayin' (I realise im being pedantic :P)

Pretty sure my friends are both FA's and MA's.

You don't know what you are talking about....a Mortgage broker or advise is qualified to sell mortgages and FA has a lot more diversified knowledge on many aspects of financial planning and investment.

With property not being the investment it once was...FA's are getting more work as people need to find other investments and different ways to plan for their retirement.

Register with LinkedIn, I have had 5 job offers in the past 6 months from there, and there are plenty of IFA and FA groups you can join for free.

My husband is a Financial Advisor for a big company who operate through a bank and they're currently taking on loads more advisors as they want one per branch. I wouldn't say he's overly busy at the moment due to the current climate but the company obviously see things improving with taking on so many people.

I would recommend that you take the higher FA exam which is equivalent to a degree, all advisors have to have this qualification within the next few years and any with it can more or less name their price so if you get this now you'll be ahead of everyone else and I would've thought would stand a better chance of getting a job.
