Hi Fellas

I am in kind of a catch 22 situation, can't find proper job so i end up working for agencies, and trust me that work wasn't easy to find as well.
1. i started working for an agency (after being unempoloyed for 3 months), they paid me SH*T though i am qualified person, anyways they were calling me like 8 in the morning to be at work on 9ish, i did it for a while but that was too much.

2. in the mean while i was looking for a job, so got in another agency they made me do 3 days training for FREE (yes i am serious), and still the work was kind of as it comes.

3. I got hold of another agency and this one promised me full time work BUT the catch was it was/is only for a month because the permanant staff were leaving for holiday, so i dont know whats my furture in this job as well. i did bring this concern to my boss but he promised that he will give me work for atleast 4 days a week (12 to 10 hour shift).

and NOW the BIGGEST problem, i left the 1st agency but i am still with other 2 agencies and the working hours are coliding with eachother. like today i started at 830 and finish 1800 (no 3 aganecy)and than again start at 1900 and finish at 0700 (no 2 aganecy), than start at 0800 and finish at 2130 (No 3 agency).

I am so dead and i dont know how i'll manage this

and would u believe i hold a BBA (Hons) and a PG in Business Administration and i am not illegal as well

I'd have thought that is illegal as it puts you and your colleagues at risk. Your tax/NI is also going to be really messed up.

You cannot keep that going for long! You have a choice to make and it is simply choice one of the jobs. I have always enjoyed agency work, it has almost always been "beneath" my qualifications but it got me out, meeting people, making contacts. I prefer to use one agency that hasa good reputation and try to make myself a good reputation with them too. Easily said! Good luck though.

I would have thought that with any sort of qualification in business admin that you would need to be organised and good at planning. Not showing it here.....

Why are you doing it then? Is it money issues? If not, then take 5 and readdress the situation.

Ouch to those hours. I knew an immigrant years ago in my factory days who worked two full times jobs midweek and all weekend. He was African and sent his money back to his family, they must have been like millionaires in their town!

Sir you may enjoy the agency work but when a person is doing a job which is not related to his profession, its hard.. i want something permanant 9 to 5.. 5 days a week which i can rellay on.. not this agency crap... there is no job security.

He'd sleep every chance he got, even on a 15 minute break his head would be straight down. Fair play to him even if he was depriving a local person of a job.

I've been signed up with agencies in the past and generally speaking, they've found me nice, long-term positions. The last agency used (Hayes, I think) lead to the permanent job I have now - so I think you're being severley messed around. My understanding is that they are really meant to get you something relatively suitable to the hours/days you need to work, not to throw anything/everything at you.

is it physically possible to work that many hours???

Some people can do the all day and night working (I did for about 2 years when I was younger and so know how it feels) and some can't. If you can't then it's a simple case of you can't, not everyone is capable of it. It's not meant as a bad thing, it's just like some people can't do early starts and so a postie wouldn't be a good job for them.

Can you not ask your parents/grand parents for help. Don't know how old you are so just guessing.

A job is a job nowadays.

I gave up on a career year's ago.

I now just have a job which is ok for me because it pays my bills.

Manual labour is the future. So many "office people" getting paid £6-10 an hour when joiners, plumbers and general tradesman on £20+ an hour.

Just thinking about working that many hours brings me out in cold sweats.

I don't understand why you can't simply refuse a job if you already have another one?
Being with an agency is not a commitment, you are supposed to have some choice in the matter.
Or am I out of date here?

Original Poster

i cant say no because if i'll say no i won't get work from them anymore and secondly if i leave one job than i wont have enough hours because they only call me when they have work sometimes i don't get anything for a week.........u know what mean

Unfortunately, yes, you are saying you get nothing then both agencies find you work at the same time You are afraid to refuse one and end up only being offered work by the other one.
Seriously bad situation, you are probably better off in any job, rather than have the insecurity that you have right now.

How does your cv look? Maybe you need to spruce it up or do some training?

csiman

lol at someone moaning about getting free training. the mind boggles! oO

I believe the point is the training is presumibly 3 days unpaid work so the agency got a free employee for 3 days, and if they have many clients on the books prob means they dont need that many full time staff.

It's okish . But it does need some polishing .. I am trying to find a graduate scheme or apprenticship in HRM, supply chain mgt or project mgt. Which I see no chance as more graduates and limited opportunities.
