John Lewis Price Match Guarantee

Looking for a bit of advice. Bought a TV from John Lewis the other day, but it seems today that Argos have now dropped the price to £20 cheaper than John Lewis (previously, Argos were the same price).

How does the John Lewis price match guarantee work? I understand that I'd have to go into the shop and ask them to match it, but does the 5 year Warranty come into it at all? To be honest, Im happy enough with paying the extra £20 for 5 year cover, but just wondering if John Lewis only compare it when looking at the price of the television and adding in 5 year cover.

Hey Beer, thanks for replying. I had read through everything, but it seemed to refer to "conditions", so I wasn't sure if they meant they would only compare based on the tv, plus adding additional cover to get 5 year warranty.

They will price match and include the 5 year guarantee they are great. Also you can do the price match online if that's easier for you.

Sorry I didn't realise you had already bought it, I bet if you ring them tomorrow they will be able to sort it.

Submit your price match request online and select it as a post price match with Argos. Should receive a reply within 24 hours or so confirming acceptance (That's if Argos have stock, make sure you print screen the stock with date).

Once you have received acceptance and received your TV (if not already) refund will be processed to you.

Edit: Just seen you bought in store, you can call the store or email them for the price match request, may take a little longer than 24 hours though. Must be an Argos within an 8 mile radius of the store in question.

I bought a tv from there two years ago and then found it cheaper elsewhere. I went into the store spoke to someone in the tech dept and they went off to check the price and then came back and did all the paperwork. It didn,t affect the warranty at all. Hope you get it sorted successfully.

I think they would add in the price of a five year warranty to compare prices. You compare like with like.

They don't. They offer 5 years as standard, that doesn't come into it.

Says on my link warranty charges are taken into account.

It is not as easy as you think to get a price match. It has to in stock when they check too so if it is a good price it often sells out before they look!

£20.00 - wow

Apologies. That £20 can go towards another present for someone.

Just a small update here. They phoned me back and confirmed to price match it so £20 coming back to my card account. I just emailed their store, received a phonecall and they sorted the rest out.

Thanks again everyone.

Tried a JL Pricematch, but they've come back telling me it's out of stock? Can still get to the end of the order on Tesco without any warnings that they're talking about. Any ideas?

Thank you for your enquiry.

I have looked into your request and have found that Tesco do not currently have stock of the Sony Bravia KDL55W80 LED HD 1080p 3D Android TV, 55" with Freeview HD, Youview & Built-In Wi-Fi, Black (Product code: 82450282), therefore on this occasion I cannot match the price quoted by Tesco.

Tesco's website show that they have stock of the television, however proceed to the final stages of placing the order you get a message to say that they do not currently have stock of the item.

We carry a wide range of lines, and the competitor has to have the line actually in stock (rather than available only to order) for us to match the price. For products that we deliver, we ask that the competitor is able to deliver in equivalent timescales to us, and on products that require delivery, we'll take delivery charges into account when comparing prices.

I am sorry I have not been able to reduce the price on this occasion. If you require any further information or assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Seen as though Tesco are out of stock, John Lewis have every right not to price match, I would say move on and look for another retailer to price match with.

Well, John Lewis matched the price for me.
