just got a 2nd hand laptop, found out the number 2 button is stuck what can i do

right the number 2 button comes on every time i turn on the computer and i can stop it by pressing any other button, but what is more annoying is when i put laptop on stand by the number 2 button starts up again and therefore turns the laptop on again.

so

I need to either fix this problem of the number 2 myself (either by turning off the number 2 key or to get it working again)
or
so when i put the laptop into stand by it only comes out of stand by, when i press the power key (in other not any key like it is now)
thanks for any advice you can give.

:whistling: Use number one twice.

Can you lift off the keyboard? It should lift off, but you might need the maker's manual to see how it is done (Google the make and model). Then you might be able to see what is causing the problem.

have you tried taking the key off to see if there is something stuck under it, you can usually get the single keys off with your nails and replace them quite easily

if you're laptop is doin a constant number 2 don't you think you've just bought a pile of "][email protected]?
from here there seems to be only one answer, and it aint call batman or Orange....how about you check a forum that deals with laptops and in particular your brand of laptop?.
Radical steps I realise...or you could just adopt the "i'm a member of one forum they should be able to answer any daft question" stance like so many kermit wannabes out there this evening....

lol, people just want other people to google for them i think, the amount of times on here ive seen a question asked when it would be quicker to type it into google than make a thread about it!
Although harsh sounding this lads saying the truth, ive found every answer to any fault ive had with google and yes might involve signing up to a new forum too

Pull the button iff, you wont break it - they are designed to be pulled off easily (no innuendo intended !)

remove the keyboard and reseat it check the contacts on the ribbon are clean and damage free

thanks for that i cant see a way of removing the keyboard, i undid all … thanks for that i cant see a way of removing the keyboard, i undid all the screws under the laptop but it just wouldnt prise apart.i have a twinhead laptop i have done a google search but i cant find any help on the internet just the pdf manual which doesnt help.

i done a couple before, generally, you should remove battery and undo the 2 screws..then the top panel/hinge cover should unclip. there is then 2 screws at top of keybord to undo and then gently lift keyboard to free it. the clip holding the ribbon will either slide out or lift up. be gentle with it!
what model exactly is the laptop?

Nice helpful advice from a noob :whistling:

although he does have a point for other topics. Just how many times are we gonna see the same questions over and over again.

e.g. What Antivirus is the best?

Must be on this site about 100 times lol :-D

I am a member of about 6 different forums, but past experience amazingly … I am a member of about 6 different forums, but past experience amazingly has showed me that HOTUK deals not only offer the best help but also the fastest.so the next time you are in trouble and there is a policeman around dont ask him, ask your local shopkeeper. In future why dont you help people instead of looking for a thread where you can complain and moan you sad little person.

Man have you been to a dentist lately? because this is just like pulling teeth.
(Oh and in case you're a woman no I wasn't calling you a man)
As has been pointed out already, and you seem to be missing, a simple search with your favourite search engine, or joining a relevant forum, would likely resolve your issues.
Not sure about the sad bit but don't think I qualify for little! ...but thanks for the thought at least ;-)
The Policeman / shopkeeper analogy was a corker by the way......
