i'm going to buy mine when i move out my parents house... nice tech is not appreciated in this house :p..... and my bedroom and study are almost full up

by then hopefully the tech will be more stable too.... an ultra slim oled 3d tv would be nice...(if that's even possible!)

lcd or plasma? which tv and where from/ how much? man I neeeeeeeeed one

I like the look of this idea-agree 3d will be massive but for home viewing I believe that "non glasses" may be the way to go. I would love to buy one now but just too many formats being considered by various companies to know what will come out on top.

You need a good 100" plus screen really, so a projector would be required for that. You'll definitely need the room darkening up somewhat for that.

if 3d takes off in a big way no doubt fashion designer companies will be coming up with glasses etc

sounds good though porter enjoy the new tech!

    that was pretty good

3dtv wont be massive while they bum you with £2000 price tags. Maybe once they hit the £500-£750 mark. I refused to go hdtv until I could get one for sub £400, so 3d will be a long way off for me.

3D will probably get incorporated into all TV sets in the next few years as long as its popularity continues growing. If the bubble bursts (and I pray it does for my own reasons) then that may change. It wouldn't affect those that have one already as they still make great HDTVs, the Panny in question is the closest TV to get to Kuro's quality yet.

Just like how people said Plasmas would never take off with their £3000 price tag without full HD and thousands and thousands bought them, and even when they dropped to £1500 for full HD people bought and bought and bought.

I'm guessing you where born last night?

It took ages for plasmas to take off. This is a bit like the jump from dvd to bluray/hd-dvd rather than the jump from video to dvd. If you have a lush hdtv are you really going to ditch it for a 3dtv? most wont.

Very different situation really though. You can't compare the two technologies from a growth perspective.

That's just a development of HDTVs though. Wonder just how long they will take to hit the mainstream at sizes more than a few inches.

Saw one in Best Buy last year and it looked stunning even though it was digital photo frame size.

I take your point but what I realy meant was adding another 'dimension' to the the TV. For example OLED 3D will be 3D TV essentially. Smelly Telly ,however, could be different and its not an impossiblility as I have read that the boffins are already experimenting with the idea.
