how thick was it? Might have been classed as a packet.

If it doesn't fit through the large letter slot , its classed as a parcel , me tinks

about the size of a normal size mars bar;-)

I had this problem with certain post office shops. One would do it accuratly and the offical post office staff would bump the price up.

If you look on the Royal Mail site nothing comes up at 1.34 for any weight whatsoever.

What does your receipt say, letter or packet.

Its classed as a packet. (not a parcel). Price should have been either £1.08 (2nd class) or £1.28 (first class).

The PO is a pain they always try to bump up the price.

I recently had to pay a £1 fee plus extra postage for a letter that had the wrong postage on.

    i was mostly confused ,sent a t-shirt yesterday 1st class for £1.40
    dosent seem to make sense

if it's anything like my local post office then they charge (depending on who serves you) variations of about a quid on sending 360 games. Not sure whether its down to stupidity or dishonesty.

There is no £1.40 postage rate for anything either!

Its the fault of whoever sent you the letter. Not the PO or Royal Mail.

I know but it seems a big fee to charge for paying an extra 17p.

ripped off? so you are sending a piece of mail to where ever in the country delivered within a few days at most for just over a quid........

feel free to link me to where you could do this for cheaper........

Was it sent recorded? or something?

And why are you sending people mars bars? ;-);-):whistling:

Posted a PS3 game (about 140g when packed) 2nd class the other day for 76p. Just fits in the slot ok and I though this was good value. My PO (Dartford) has serve yourself machines which everbody in the massive queue was ignoring. Used one of those and saved loads of time. They take credit cards too.

Was gonna print the label from Paypal but their charge was way higher. Quel surpris....

OP, you're a bit daft selling something for £1 delivered without checking the charges beforehand...

Used to be that when you sent first class it would arrive next day...I see that's not even possible any more unless you pay extra :whistling:

no it can't its priced for weights like 100g - 200g (weights might not be that but you get the jist)
for example you could send two things with slightly different weights and still get charged the same

wasnt that botherd ,just a bit confused:thumbsup:

Funny how no one has responded to the posts pointing out that they didn't pay what they said they paid at the Post Office.

This happened to me a while back too but I told them at the time and they changed it as they realised. Not a lot u can do though if it's already been done...I doubt anyways hun x

I know I thought that too

Jack Dee once did a standup that stuck in my memory, about the price of stamps going up... not an exact quote but "people are up in arms because the price of a first class stamp has gone up by 2p! why don't all those complaining save their energy and deliver their letter by hand within a day or two, all they have to do is go to the train station and see how far their 34p ticket will take them..."

    +1

Definately classed as a packet and charged more. My post office are really good. I used to send out to family loads of discs of photos and when these new rules came out found it confusing for a while so they gave me one of their cardboard template thingies to use.

For discs I'd use those Amps cardboard mailers but stick the flap down as at my Nana's end she was being charged the admin fee plus 17p saying I'd underpaid when in fact it was because the rip pull tab had bent upwards and messed with their automated system.

Once when I bought from ebay I noticed that the seller paid more postage than I'd paid them so paypal'd difference over.

It is a kicker though when you pay more for an item in p&p charges than the item cost.
