If I bought 100 £1 scratchcards, what would be the likelyhood of getting my £100 back.
Anyone ever known anybody do it?
Would be quite interesting.

I knwo someone that claimed you would always get your money back plus some more just because a friend did they tried it and only just made over £100.

In reality though most odds on scratch cards are 1:4 or there about so by that you will never get your money back and if you do it is purely luck.
How else would the lottery make enough money to run and give the ammount they do to good causes?

yeah saw it on a tv prog some geezer was betting on various things around the world and he bought 100 quids worth and won a tenner

That's what I was thinking.. but theoretically.. some scratchcards might contain two prizes.. and some might be more than £1.. but when working out the odd's chances are, win every four times, £1 each time, your going to lose £75..

Tells you the chance of winning on the back doesn't it? The higher the big prize the lower percentage (I think). My mate in the army attempted this theory vs a bandit of 73% payout he lost massivley.

Could be quite interesting.. if you had 50 friends.. £2 each.. therefore not losing alot.. and if you did manage to get the £100 back you've broke even!
Have to find a very honest friend though !

Lottery ones are approx 1 in 7 "of winning a cash amount" (This could be £1, this could be £7,000 or more).

The higher the top win the lower the odds.

PS GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Doesn't make sense really, though - whether 1 person buys 100 cards or 100 people buy 1 card, the Lottery will be profitting

Each card's chance of winning is completely random so even if 99 of cards don't win then that doesn't mean that the 100th one is any more likely to.

You will have more chance of winning obviously if you buy 100 cards than if you only bought one but then you may as well just buy one everyday for 100 days and make the excitement last longer

How about if you buy £100 of cards off just one roll? There must be a winner or two in there then :giggle:

Thats what i was thinking.. I bet theres a limit on places like supermarkets can sell you though..

All a matter of luck.

The odds are 4 to 1 but they make much more than that because most of the wins are £1 or £2 and these end up being used to buy another scratchcard at 4 to 1,

I scratched off 140 scratchcards once and only won £42 total out of all of them

I reckon if you bought 100 from 100 different shops you would have a better chance of winning

the odds are stacked against you. You may win buying 100 scratch cards.. but if you repeated it over and over you'd end up a loser eventually, if not after the first set of 100... I wouldn't think you would stand a chance of winning you're 100 back if you did it with lottery tickets.. this is the same...

99 -1 might be right!

When they had just started selling them, me and a mate won 100 quid on the fruit machine in the local club and decided to but 100 of the same scratch card from the same roll.

We won 19 quid or there abouts, deffo less than 20 quid. Never done it since.

Well we were both well blathered and stupid enough to waste the 100 quid we just won lol

A church needing to raise £300,000 used the £175,000 they had raised to buy scratchcards, if memory serves they won about £7,500, was in the papers some 6-7 years ago
