    i used to until very recently - the only reason being that the software RAID drivers for Windows XP for my desktop could only be loaded via floppy, not CDROM. Dont ask me why.

    ....& wot's wrong with 5 1/4 ones?????

    i use my 5 1/4 floppy all the time...ba-dum-tsh

    wait...that didnt make me sound good >_>

    made me lol thoogh hunni, :-D

    I replaced a firm's computers about 15 years ago (when 3.5 floppies were still the rage & 5.25 floppies were history); having removed a PC with an ancient floppy drive (very big & very heavy!) from one office & replaced it with a nice shiny PC with a 3.5 floppy drive I explained to the woman in the office how the new PC worked. She then pulled out some 8 inch floppies & asked if they would still work in the new PC as all her work was saved on them! (8 inch floppies went out of fashion in the mid 1970s). I said "Of course they will, but if you have any problems just phone our helpdesk", and then I left in a hurry:whistling:

    I still chuckle at the imagined conversation between her & the helpdesk - "Right, I've finally managed to get the disk into the drive, but it wasn't easy":-D

    lol :thumbsup:

    I don't use floppies at all but there's still piles of them here in the study so presumably they may come in handy one day.

    Sounds like you might need to upgrade. How's your software?

    The BIOS chip on the motherboard of a computer i was fixing went kaput and i needed to dig out a 3.5 floppy to try and reflash the BIOS. The computer was so knackered it didn't even want to read the floppies i put in so i binned the motherboard!

    Mum says if I'm a good boy I can start using 3.5's by the end of the year. Next year she's promised me a 128mb usb stick, after that who knows......the sky's the limit!
    Ps. I heard her telling the neighbours that apparently the internet's on computers now.......the story's people tell!

    YOU ARE EVIL.

    I still use them at work to transfer data from a pc that is still running windows 95. The programme was written in test point and cannot be upgraded to a higher version of windows. Its written in test point, saves the data in Quattro Pro then transfered to my pc via floppy to be converted to Excel. What joy..............

    We still have a load of stuff backed up onto floppy disks at work. I had to buy a USB floppy drive to read them after we got new machines (and someone ditched all the old machines!)

    I know:evil::p

    I have lots of useful girl guide info and work info on floppies - had to buy a usb drive to swap them to usb pen, still only done half as I still keep finding them. They are 1.44mb ones - lol! (just think of all the info they hold)!!!

    The program should work in compatability mode... if not I would network the 95 computer an access the data you need via a simple share...
