Just started my Maternity Leave - What will I do for 9 months?

Well I just wont know what to do with myself - especially in the lead up to baby arriving.

I might even become an active member of HUKD again - Just like the good old days;-)

Unfortunately I don't get any sleep ins as I have to take my older boys to school.

Should have thought about that before you got into this position, it's called forward planning :whistling:

Ah well too late now, you will just have to live with the consequences now :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Kick back and relax and enjoy the peace during the day while it lasts. It will soon be Xmas holidays and you'll have babs.

    So just enjoy.

I think the most important thing for you to do is to watch the Jeremy Kyle show daily.

I wholeheartedly agree. Damn full time employment!! I love it when it's Bank Holiday. Jeremy Kyle should be made prime time. It's enough to make you want to call in sick...:p

I regularly think about calling in sick to get my JK Fix, but then I ask myself "What would Jeremy say if he knew what I had done?" :-(

You're right. He WOULD be disappointed, but I'm sure a part of him would be secretly smug. :-D

Its 4 weeks to my due date - I was going to work till 38 weeks but I am not happy at work (I had a health and safety risk assessment and they found my job to be TOO DANGEROUS so I have been on light duties for 10 weeks)

When I had my boys I went back to work when my first was 9 weeks old and my second was 12 weeks old - So I fully intend to enjoy my 9 months.

That was very inconsiderate of your baby coming so early - I hope you had words:giggle:

I would certainly have words - how rude!!

This is my 100th post! Wahoo!! (courtsies)

    Congrats love_a_bargain
I was in a similar situation to Gaia, our 3 yr old was born at 34 weeks and we weren't at all prepared- in fact when I had a hind water leak with him, we nipped to the hospital expecting to be sent home. We were planning on doing a "Big Shop" at Tesco  All we had was our tesco clubcard so poor old hubby had to go home and cobble together a hospital bag for baby and me as quickly as he could.

perhaps take up some their services and playgroups they have to get your baby socialised. If you call up your local one and ask to be registered, they send you newsletters and may even come round to visit you with a early pegnancy bag. Last time I was pregnant, they paid for taxi for us instead of getting an ambulance ( despite us being sent home and having call up ambulance soon after ) cos midwife said they could help out. When they arranged the taxi service, they come with some handy free items too.

I often take up their trips they offer in my area,we going to theatre to see Aladdin next mth. They always greatly reduced tickets and coach included for days out.

Unfortunately I dont live in a Surestart area any more - I moved across town a year ago. When the boys were under 4 I used Surestart every day, lots of baby massage classes and mums and tots groups and I even got to do some adult education whilst they provided a free creche. I live in a small village now and the only thing we have is a pram club on a Monday!!

Ok,I just saw Leeds on your location and presumed you maybe in their area that they cover.
When your health visitor comes round she be able to give you some info what else is in your area. Sometimes local libraries have little nursery rhymes sessions once a week.Do go along to the pram club to get your little one socialised, even at 1st if they just lay on the mat having a look round its still good for them.

I will certainly miss using their facilities - I do want to get out and about as much as I can with this one. Leeds has a few Surestart centers but I moved to a small village that doesn't get any funding for anything.

Beckyboo - whatever you decide to do - take care of yourself :friends:
