Can't help you there I'm afraid I haven't been online for couple of days. Might just be that RDR release is jamming the network as its just out.

ARGHHHHHH it's realling p**sing me off now looked all over the poxy internet and theres not even a fix for it.

Only using PSN because i am not paying £23+ for a years xbox live membership...no thanks.

I heard that Red Dead Redemption had some server issues and it was hard to play online at the minute on both Xbox and Ps3.

The PSN is cr*p, full stop. I love my PS3 to bits, and am so pleased the PSN is free, but the data transfer speeds are shocking...sometimes, despite my internet connection being dandy-o, it's moves so slow as to boot me out too. Some evenings I've tried 3 or 4 games of FIFA online on the trot, only to get booted after kick-off on each one. Some days I get exactly what you're suffering...but give it a day, and then it's fine again for a while....

The PSN Movie Store is a bit of a shocker too. You can forget watching a film as it downloads - they just don't offer the speeds. Blinkbox, on the other hand, is as good as gold on my PS3...

but it's signing me out when i'm on COD aswell so it hasn't got anything to do with RDR

Can you put the IP Address of your PS3 into a demilitarized zone (DMZ) on your router?

Does the game you are playing expect any ports to be opened on the router for traffic to flow between your client & the server?

Have you checked the user manual?

Yeh there is a number and i searched for it yesterday and people were saying theres no fix.

I've given up now anyway, by connection type do you mean wired or wireless? If so it's wireless

you tried with a wired connection then

    Either way

in router use DHCP and enable Upnp set ps3 to auto get ip then check nat type

Your NAT may be strict. Port forward your PS3

    Playstation Network Required Ports

    TCP 80
    TCP 443
    TCP 5223
    UDP 3478
    UDP 3479
    UDP 3658

Should be under firewall rules in your router settings, plenty of youtube videos will tell you how to do it

Seeing if the ps3 reports UPNP on router for wireless and wired is easier. No ports to set up if it reports Upnp is available (upnp will do it auto) under normal operation

I really appreciate all the help guys but I really haven't got a clue what all these required ports etc. are and I generally don't have a clue about the router  ...what shall I search specifically in YouTube? "port forward ps3" ? i'll try that now in utube!

Type whats my ip adress on google and copy that into your browser. You'll then be in router settings, from there it matters which make your router is, but it will be under firewall rules

Test you ps3 connection under network settings in ps3 it will show what is in use and what's available

I've tried both Wired and Wireless connections now and when I do the "connection test" it fails on "Playstation Network" every f**king time.

What the hell can I do ?
