Key stage 1 sats - do they still do them?

Do kids still do key stage 1 sats tests in year 2? Was just wondering as there hasn't been any mention of them at our school. Wasn't sure if there would suddenly be a nasty surprise when we go back after the Easter hols or if maybe they've died a death and I didn't know

Oh right, I wonder if we will be told when they have them. I'd like to know if the results go on the child's school record and will follow them about thus maybe reducing their chances of getting into a good school later if they have bad results or anything like that.

Yes my son is doing them when he goes back to school after the hols......they do them some time between April and may................Key stage 1 sats are really laid back and the kids dont see them as anything special. We already had parents eving about it and know what stage our son is at pre sats.........so we know we dont nee to be worried about it at all.

Yes you do gets the results with what level your child is at in Maths and English......and what they could possibly achieve if they continue along the same level though all of their school life, But I think the sats at age 11 would predict a more likely outcome of events then the Key stage 1 sats......unless of course you have a childs that is already struggling within school or is already miles ahead.

Thanks, I have hopes of grammar school but haven't done any extra sats work with him while he's in infants. I don't want to pile extra work on him until he's in year 4. He should do fine in the tests but just wondered if they would get looked at along with ks 2 results when he does the 11+

Not all schools are doing Y2 sats, it's up to the school. They are not compulsory. I would think that you/your child would have been made aware by now. You could try your school website as this will often have a schedule of events, including any sats.

It doesn't impact on future schooling options.

My daughter ( yr6 ) and son (yr 2 ) are both doing there sats when they return after the easter hols .

Oh and sats are just to assess the level they are at in school , nothing to do with the 11 + thats a totally different test on its own and only to determine if eligible for a Grammar school or not ................confusing stuff this school stuff nowadays isnt it ??......lol
