Totally agree. We already know who did it so why a Public Enquiry now? - because the political climate is right

I'm waiting for abramovich to go... Lol

waste of time and money, just an excuse to pay people to do something

why now? why do you think?

because everybody has got it in for Russia right now, and its about all the rest of the world can do, point and say look at the nasty man

It will so funny if Russia waits till the winter and shuts off Europes gas and causes chaos. It will serve us right for pushing the Russian bear too far too often.

BTW this guy that was killed was no saint. He worked for the KGB for years and was probably partly respnsible for some nasty stuuff himself. So lets not get carried away here with our mass media shock at the hit.

He was also a British Citizen killed with Polonium 210 a radio active substance, he died a very painful death.

He worked for the FSB not the KGB being pedantic. The fact he needed asylum because he was calling out the Russian Government on some very unsavoury deeds would suggest that his motives were good. If you have evidence that he was 'probably partly respnsible for some nasty stuuff himself' then feel free to post the information you have, don't speculate if you don't know.

The Russian bear needs pushing back a notch or two or they will continue their expansionist policies. When did it become fashionable to roll over for bully's anyway?

You may be right about about them restricting gas though. All the more reason to reduce dependency on foreign carbon fuels.

Nuclear FTW.

edit* Litvinenko's last statement.

...this may be the time to say one or two things to the person … ...this may be the time to say one or two things to the person responsible for my present condition. You may succeed in silencing me but that silence comes at a price. You have shown yourself to be as barbaric and ruthless as your most hostile critics have claimed. You have shown yourself to have no respect for life, liberty or any civilised value. You have shown yourself to be unworthy of your office, to be unworthy of the trust of civilised men and women. You may succeed in silencing one man but the howl of protest from around the world will reverberate, Mr Putin, in your ears for the rest of your life. May God forgive you for what you have done, not only to me but to beloved Russia and its people.

seems like a pretty accurate prophecy.

Typical corrupted politics though. On both sides.

Arms export licences for Russia still in place despite claims of embargo - report

Problem is, major European countries are in deals with Russia, mainly exporting so unless the countries concerned want to take a hit on their economies, this is just sabre rattling.

Can you give some good examples of recent Russian expansionist policies ?
Nato is guilty of expansionist policies provoking Russia as a matter of course. Why do they feel the need to put missile defense systems and bases right on the borders of Russia which completely surround them now.

Is Nato looking to provoke a deliberate or " accidental " confrontation leading to ww3 or are they just being stupid by being forced down this road by the US defence industry ?

Crimea and Eastern Ukraine, a few months back reports were parts of Finland may be annexed also.

I don't understand your point about Nato. Some former Soviet block countries (20 years ago) decide to align themselves with Europe rather than Russia 'Shock Horror'. After all Russia had annexed them originally, maybe they didn't like it and decided on another course. Free countries can do that. If they reversed their decision you think NATO will invade them?

So if Cuba or Mexico or Venezuela were to invite the Russians to set up bases and establish missile systems that would be ok with Nato would it ?

These countries that left the soviet block need not have so readily replaced one super power with another, it was seen as direct provocation as a result.

Annexation of land has been happening all through history by almost every man and nation anyway. We`ve done it,America has done it,Israel has done it,Germany has done it, China has, as has Russia.

You can`t have one rule/standard for one people and another rule/standard for others.

I don't understand your point to be honest. Bad stuff happened before so it would be hypocritical to complain about bad stuff happening now I guess.

Then it's a race to the bottom.

We just have to agree to disagree then.No worries

im sure putin is wetting himself at the thought of a public enquiry X)
