Kindle ebook suggestions

My 8 year old daughter has decided that she really wants to buy a kindle with her xmas & birthday money. She absolutely loves reading and is very advanced for her age. Last parents evening we were told she was on level with high school for her literacy etc.

I know where I can get the ebooks but does anybody have any suggestions of what to get, she enjoyed reading the golden compass and a magic far away trees. Im not really a reader myself

She may like the Bartimeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud, the Northern Lights (His Dark Materials) Trilogy by Philip Pullman, the Narnia books, the Sally Lockhart books by Philip Pullman, The Hobbit, Harry Potter, the Artemis Fowl books, the Wind on Fire trilogy, the Sabriel series by Garth Nix, Ballet Shoes, Skellig, Lemony Snicket, My Secret Garden, Tom's Midnight Garden and lots lots more - choose one to look at on Amazon, go to the bottom of the screen and it will give you similar recommendations, or at the side of the page you should be able to look at lists people have made which will give you ideas for similar books.
I work in publishing and have a similar 8 yr old, the challenge is to find books which challenge them without being about subjects you'd rather they avoid, and which they can still understand as well as read.

my son is 7 and advanced he liked the faraway tree etc. If she likes enid blyton try the secret 7, also mr majeka is a winner. He also loves the dragon series (very different from the movie) and witty and laugh out loud. Horrid henry? we are now on the wizard of oz which he is loving!
try a search on amazon for free books? alice in wonderland im sure was one free.
I have the sony reader in girly pink and love it. I know a man on ebay sells whole sets of pdfs. I got loads but im not sure if he has kids books but worth asking? cheap as btw.

Thanks for the advice everybody, thats a great list britchic4 should certainly get her reading for a while!!

My 8 year old son had the Michael Morpurgo and Anthony Horowitz sets from the Book People for Christmas and he is steadily ploughing his way through those. You could also try the Alex Rider series which, though aimed primarily at boys, are fantastic books.

I remember reading Watership Down at that age and I loved it; in fact I liked a lot of animal based ones, Tarka the Otter is a good one, and the Farthing Wood books are excellent as well.

I would check the book prices befoe you buy as many are dearer than paperback at the moment .
