King Size memory foam mattress, cheapest place

    Hi all,

I am looking for a memory foam mattress King size or super king size, i have looked on ebay and other sites and to many are only 5cm thick of memory foam and 15cm of base foam. I am after 10cm of memory foam at least.

The cheapest i have found so far for 10cm of each is £430 for king size or 480 for super king size and it comes with 2 memory foam pillows and free delivery, Can any body beat that price with the credit crunch and my bad back (my old GFs back really ;)???????

    Thanks all

    Chris

There are a fair few king size memory foam (allegedly) mattresses on Scambay for a lot less than that. Personally, I have found a memory foam mattress great (have had one for 3 years now) but would avoid memory foam pillows. Unless you like sleeping with your head on a lump of wood! They are distinctly solid feeling.

I think that I've probably posted this before but the best place that I've found for advice about beds and mattresses is www.moneysavingexpert.com. Search for "memory foam mattress" in the forums and look for the advice posted by Tim Deegan. I believe he is in the trade and seems to give first rate impartial (!) advice.

Well I would say once you hit 3" you've hit the law of diminishing returns. For the extra outlay there really isn't enough benefit to warrant it. Consider. A fully foam mattress is different to a sprung mattress in that the whole thing will absorb body weight without hard spots to dig into you. So while you may need a thicker covering over springs there's no real benefit with foam on foam and I honestly don't think you would notice the difference.

The second thing to consider is overall thickness re fitted sheets. It may be tempting to go for a 12" mattress BUT fitted sheets are generally made for 8" mattresses so the corners pop off pretty easily. It's a pain making the bed every day

One at Tesco for £216.75 I think there is a voucher in the voucher section to get you another £10 off. Also this weekend if you spend more than £50 on Direct you get a £10 e-voucher for a £50 spend on Tesco food shopping

I've been looking at getting a new mattress. I have been using a foam topper but think I will go for a full foam this time - partly because fitted sheets can pop off with a topper.

However, considering that you spend approximately 1/3 of your life in bed and it can affect your back I decided to splash out a bit instead of going for the cheapest option. Memory foam is not all the same. I started by looking at Tempur (over £1000 for a King Size) but then discovered that in 2 Which reviews the MemoryFlex mattress (£525 is cheapest I have found so far - see below) is considered the best.

    Hi

1st time ive used the net to buy a 'large' product but very pleased with the result! I bought my King Size memory foam mattress from www.creatingcomforts.co.uk and received the best customer service I have ever encountered, very pleased with both price and product. May be what you're looking for.

I only said MAYBE. It sometimes pays to be cautious when someone has only just registered on this site and has only made one post to praise a company.

Yes I now see your point, but people will always make judgement for them self and as long as people report their experiences whether negative or positive it will hopefully serve to help people in making a sound decision and save money, so I hope ive been of some help to someone which is the ethos of this site.
