Quality can be very variable with S/Steel sinks, some of the value lines are very thin steel and wobbly when long taps are put on.

Ask anyone in the trade and they'll tell u to avoid S/S if you can. We've just upgraded ours to Blanco Silgranit and it is soooooooo much nicer and makes S/S ones look like cheap tat.

What is the problem with Ssteel?

I have never heard of the one mention but 10 yrs ago was told my white sink with taps was rolls royce of sinks. Worst thing I ever bought. 2 sets taps later, corroded sink. Have just bought SSteel replacement

I think that it what we have - like a composite material- stone/ resin?
Hate the one we have - it somehow is stained over time even though it is supposed to be stain resistant. At least with S/Steel thay are very resistant and easy to clean.
What trade don't they recommend them in? In the catering trade they have everyting S/Steel.The kitchen salespersons trade probably recommend the most costly if you ask me.

Every kitchen place we went into (though they could just have been trying to sell us more expensive ones) advised against them and the plumber we had fit it too. S/S shows wear and tear a lot quicker. Like anything though, i guess u buy cheap you shouldn't expect it to last - especially SS. Plumber's main comment was that it warped when u secured it to the worksurface. And also depends on how u look after them. Yes it is a composite with granite.

This sink we bought replaced a white set with matching tap. Being white, it was quite discoloured but otherwise in perfect working order and must be over 15years old.

It's like anything, some people have good experiences, others bad with exactly the same thing. Only giving me 2penneth worth from what I've seen and heard...

This has useful advice on SS: ]http//ww…tml

IMHO our silgranit sink will require less maintenace to keep in looking in good condition.

End of the day tho, it's what will look right in your kitchen.

But to answer the original question, we got ours from here: ]http//ww…uk/

We rang up and got it cheaper than the webprice.

S/s has lasted for 15 years in my rental house...got a few swirl marks on it because it was the polished type, but I want a brushed/satin one to combat that problem anyway.

I suppose it depends on how you look after what you have

    Plumbworld are having a sale:

(Don't forget if you order from Plumbworld to go through Quidco.)
