KwikFit Fixed it

A few months ago my Honda Civic developed a loud rattle, which turned out to be one of the heat shields. Many thanks to those on here who told me. I took it to a local mechanic who fixed the problem!!! Cost £45.00. The shield started to rattle again within the month! I took the car to KwikFit and they fixed it so that it would no longer rattle, and it looks like it never will. They have gone up a few notches in my estimation of them, and I don't have to drive with the stereo blasting

I had a stilo a couple of months back and it was blowing from the stainless to the middle section exhaust. Took it there and the resealed it for FREE!! Even though is never used them before.
Maybe they have turned a corner, because the ones I have used are awful.
They tightened my handbrake for free, I was so grateful.
People are normally quick to bash kwik-fit but I really rate the one in Exeter.

They didn't charge me either. I took a big box of cakes to them for their break.
Let me guess, the took it off and binned it.

why didnt you do it yourself as I told you previously? its only a pair of pliers and a 10 second job.

knowing kwik-fit, they probably removed the shield completely

The car is very low and could not get under it. I don't own ramps. I'm not bothered by them removing the shield as I only want to keep the car running noiselessly for a few months more until I get another one. The car is probably on its last legs (wheels) anyhow - 1996 :), though my wife isn't eager to get rid of it yet.

I normally drive slowly up a big kerb to get access

hopefully they havent removed it as its their for a purpose (to stop the underside of the car catching fire!) oO
i like kwik-fit. at the least the one near me seems to be run by decent chaps. there is another though which is not as good. luck of the draw.
I love my local kwik-fit. They do my tyres, top up oil, screen wash etc.All for free. Fantastic service, especially for older people.
Its good if you get a good one,I have used two and had bad experiences with both. My husband has a friend now who is a Renault specialist,my car had a problem with exhaust so he sorted it,it needed an exhaust mount. He fixed that plus serviced my car and repaired my tyre that had a nail in it and also put on new wipers for £30(price of part) I was well chuffed!!
A couple of months ago Kwik Fit quoted me £300 and 1 hour to repair an exhaust.

I took it to my local indie Exhaust & Tyre place. £60 (they replaced it) and they did it in 20 mins.

I would never use Kwik Fit without getting more professional opinions to contextualise their wild-eyed craziness.

This is often the case with KwikFit. I am not banging a drum for them, because I know what they can be like. I took a Clio there for a brake check. They told me that everything was sound, but advised £250 worth of work for pads, discs and tyres :). Sailed through the next MOT.
