Looking at getting a laptop but unsure about processors. What is a better AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs QL-65 | clock speed : 2.1 GHz | 2nd level cache : 1 MB
or
AMD Sempron Processor for Notebooks SI-42 | clock speed : 2.1 GHz | 2nd level cache : 512 KB .
Any advice much appreciated, thanks.

I think the Sempron is a single core processor. A dual core processor normally makes the computer run faster when doing multiple tasks. For example, my computer is running a deep virus scan now, and I am still able to use it as normal

Thanks for your help. I think I'll go for the AMD Athlon then.

There are two "low end" CPU brands.

Intel make the Celeron and AMD make the Sempron.

While not "bad" in themselves they are usually put in budget laptops.

Both Celerons and Semprons are fine for general "office" work (web, email, word processor etc) but if you expect to do more with a laptrop go for something better.
