Laptop for surfing and documents

Hi, my mum is after a new laptop for browsing the internet, word, photos etc, nothing heavy

She sent me a link to a £600 laptop with 8gb ram, 1tb hd which is obvious overkill

Am I right in that 4gb ram, 256gb hd is enough spec?

I can see said spec for around £300, is that about ballpark? Any processor or other spec I should be aiming for?

Thanks, Kris

If you don’t mind a refurbished laptop, there are a few at itzoo.co.uk
Well and truly into pseudo-ultrabook territory with those minimal requirements. Random example HP 14s-dq0500sa (9FD81EA) £299 Currys currys.co.uk/gbu…tml
or near-identical clone via JL for 2 year warranty for extra £30 johnlewis.com/hp-…427

Either option has simple and zero cost reversion to standard W10 from W10-S

If a screen larger than 14" is required occasionally: £2 buys a HDMI cable.

Good enough specs that it would last a long time and not much more expensive then ones with the weak CPUs which soon start to lag.

May be a viable option if it wan't sold by a foreign merchant.
Thanks I’ve sent a couple of options over

Agree with that, a 15" screen is a must for anyone middle aged or over.
