Laptop for uni

Found 1st Sep 2009
My daughter's going away to uni later this month and I'm looking to buy her a decent laptop.
Minimum requirements would be A 2Ghz (and above) Intel dual-core processor and at least 2 Gigabytes of Ram. A choice of colour would also be nice.
Price around the £400 mark

Any help much appreciated.

I know dell do laptops with pick your own colour probs get one for that spec or better, for under £400
... I think the studio 15's pretty good.
Loads of offers on at the moment with way better specs than dual core. Surprisingly, check Currys, Dixons, PC World as when I went past their stores in the retail park this afternoon, they all had deals on in the window and "price crash" stickers. Of course, most of their stuff is crap and overpriced but sometimes ......

I'd even check out John Lewis, great to pop in if you have time as they will tell you what is comin up. Toshiba and HP have some deals on I've seen in the last week.

As ever with computers, you can go on forever looking. I bought a couple of months ago and not once was Dell anywhere near for a PC or laptop. Their build quality is very poor on some. I bought HP. Great and no issues at all.
