    laptop help

The daughters laptop has blown its motherboard (dell) and i need to replace . Main use will be watching you tube videos and doing home work . Looking for something pretty nippy but having had a good look its a minefield to me . Not sure if I'm buying old stock etc . Could some one please recommend a decent laptop for around 400 pounds . Having a large hard drive is not a requirement . Thanks

I'm sure you can get cheaper if it used only for homework and watching YouTube. Certainly don't need a well specced laptop for that.

If the Dell lasted around 5 years simply buy another Dell within your budget. Anything substantially less than 5 years then yes shop around. Go to a reputable retailer and see what they have for £400. Take a note of the most vital spec info for you, then get online and see if you can find same spec or machine elsewhere. You dont really need to be tech savvy - just shopper savvy. So, buy with a credit card and on-line as both give you more consumer protection.

what model is it? if it is a latitude 7450 very common change motherboards on these several times a week.
